Dream Match 7: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Vs Mumbai Indians (MI)

Date & Time – Thursday, March 28th; 08:00pm IST

Venue – M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bangalore are all set to host their first home game of the season against Mumbai Indians this Thursday. Both the teams having suffered defeats in their first game, would want to get points going into the game. Mumbai would be delighted to find that no serious damage has been done to Jasprit Bumrah and also for the return of Lasith Malinga. But we are not sure if both the players will make it into the final XI.

Pitch Report

When Virat Kohli played the T20I against Australia here at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, he said he was delighted to see the wicket resembling that of the traditional high scoring M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. We did witness a high scoring match. The dew helped tremendously for the chasing Australians and it might be the case once again, so the teams would want to bowl first.

Based on our FD Performance Prediction Model, we have come up with numbers predicting the player’s performance.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is a veteran of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He has scored more T20 runs than anyone else in this stadium. But from 2015 to 2017 in IPL, he has struggled against Mitchell McClenaghan. He has got out 4 times to him in 28 balls but played well against him last year scoring 20 runs in 12 balls without losing wicket. So we think Virat Kohli has overcome his weakness against McClenaghan and will score big tomorrow.

Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock started off the season well with a blistering 16-ball 27 but could not capitalise on the start. He would want to prove to his old team that he can still deliver the goods and that last year was one off. He still averages 40 in 9 innings at this venue.

AB de Villiers

There used to be a time when AB de Villiers loved playing against MI. But from IPL 2016, he has been struggling against one particular bowler. He has scored only 33 runs from 32 balls and has got out 4 times to Krunal Pandya. Yes, you read that right and we can expect Krunal Pandya to come into the attack when AB comes on to bat. But we all know how good a player he is and all other factors like his current form, his record at this venue etc. favour him heavily which is why he has 67% chance of succeeding in this match.

Bowler Name                               Total

  1. Mitchell McClenaghan      70.60%
  2. Mohammed Siraj              68.80%
  3. Jasprit Bumrah                 68.80%
  4. Yuzvendra Chahal            68.40%
  5. Hardik Pandya                  67.20%
  6. Umesh Yadav                   66.20%
  7. Krunal Pandya                  64.40%
  8. Tim Southee                     62.20%
  9. Pawan Negi                      60.00%
  10. Navdeep Saini                  60.00%
  11. Shivam Dube                    58.00%
  12. Moeen Ali                         56.20%
  13. Washington Sundar          56.20%
  14. Barinder Sran                   55.00%
  15. Lasith Malinga                  50.80%
  16. Rasikh Salam                   50.00%
  17. Ben Cutting                      43.40%
  18. Colin de Grandhomme     33.80%
  19. Mayank Markande            33.40%

Mitchell McClenaghan

Mitchell McClenaghan has been in splendid form recently. He has picked up 9 wickets in the last 5 T20 games he played. He has created a lot of problems for Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the past, and he will be someone to watch out for in today’s match.

Yuzvendra Chahal

In the thirty-nine T20 games he has played here at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, he has picked up 49 wickets at a brilliant SR of 15.65. Rohit Sharma has not been at his best while playing leg spinners recently in IPL and Yuzvendra Chahal has only conceded 22 runs in 26 balls against Rohit Sharma and has got him out once in IPL. Let’s see if he picks Rohit Sharma’s wicket again.
