Huge task ahead for Bangladesh against the No.1 Test side
After a competitive T20I series Bangladesh and India clash with each other in a two-match test series starting on Thursday in Indore. Bangladesh may have given a stiff fight for the hosts in the shorter format, but when it comes to the longer format India is right at the top in the rankings and going through a dream run at home. The return of regulars to the Indian test side, unlike the T20s will be a huge task for Bangladesh. But we never know how things can pan out on a cricket field, given the performance of the visitors in T20Is.
India possible XI:
Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma.
Bangladesh possible XI:
Shadman Islam, Imrul Kayes, Liton Das, Mominul Haque(c), Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Mahmudullah, Mehedy Hasan, Mohammad Mithun/Nayeem Hasan, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Al-Amin Hossain.
The surface in Indore has offered more assistance to pacers than most venues in the previous edition of Ranji Trophy. Spinners too had their say as the game progressed so expect a sporting pitch with enough assistance for everyone. The forecast is partly cloudy in the opening two days of the test, otherwise sunny conditions are likely in the offering.
A change in batting position has done wonders for the AHitman in the shorter format which resulted in elite consistency. The same case can be seen in the longer format as well since the team management promoted him to open. He has responded with two centuries and a double century. The true challenge may come when he tours aboard but for now, in a country where openers are known to have the best conditions to bat, he is likely to continue the good form. He has an impressive PPM of 158 in the last 5 matches.
Since making his debut in the Indian side, he has turned up with consistent performances and made his mark in a short span of time. He has been second only to Rohit when it comes to runs scored in the recent South African series. He has a PPM of 114.5 and an MDTA of 1.25 in the last 5 matches.
In the absence of Shakib, he is certainly the most crucial player of the side for the visitors. He has a PPM of 108 and an MDTA of 1.25 in the last 5 matches. His ability to come up with an all-round performance makes him a worthy pick to consider in the Dream11 cricket team.
He is second only to Rohit when it comes to points scored in the last 5 matches for India. He has a PPM of 135 and an MDTA of 1.25 in the period. He has not only been amongst the wickets as he is known for, but has also come up with consistent performances with the bat in recent times.
He has been the most consistent Indian pacer in the longer format in recent times. There is every chance he will continue the same against Bangladesh given the conditions. He has a PPM of close to 80 in the last 5 games.
He is the key man for Bangladesh. He had played a crucial part in their first-ever win in T20Is against India. In the longer format, if Bangladesh has to be at least competitive against the No.1 side, then he has to live up to his past record against India. He has a PPM of 93 in the format and in India, it is 210 which makes him a must-have in your fantasy cricket team.
