High time for Afghanistan’s revival
Following the clean sweep in ODIs, it was perceived that Afghanistan will bounce back in a format where they had tasted much success. But in reality that didn’t happen as the Windies continued their dominance in the tour. The bowling attack of Afghanistan which was earlier lethal, failed to make inroads in the first T20I. The most worrying sign for them is their batting which is yet to score a decent total. On the flip side, the West Indies continue to dominate and they are yet to be challenged by the Afghan’s in at least one area.
The West Indies is likely to stick with the winning combination. Afghanistan might consider tinkering with the combination of the squad.
The surface for T20Is seems to be a better one for batting compared to the ODIs in Lucknow. Dew also played its part in making life easy for batsmen. Expect nothing different from the surface for Saturday’s contest.
He continued his recent good form in the first match of the series by coming up with an all-round show. If the Windies lose early wickets, his role in the side will be so crucial than when compared to normal circumstances. He has a PPM of 45 and an MDTA of 1.25 in the last 5 games.
He may not be one of those consistent players considering his overall record in the format. But in the tour, he has been impressive as he has provided the team with good starts in ODIs and in the first T20I he played a crucial knock with wickets tumbling at the other end. His recent form in the tour makes him a worthy pick in the Dream11 fantasy cricket team.
The Windies pacer has lived up to his expectations in the first T20I by picking wickets in the middle and death overs. It seemed like he has continued from where he left in the CPL. His PPM of 55.4 and an MDTA of 1.67 in the last 5 games makes him a must-have in today’s game.
He has continued his recent good form from his the ODIs into the T20Is. He provided early breakthrough for the side and also proved to be economical than most of the bowlers from Afghanistan. He has a PPM of close to 50 and an MDTA of 1.25 in the last 5 games.
He is one of those bowlers who makes his presence felt when he gets it right. His lack of wickets in recent times is due to the way the opposition approached him by playing without taking many risks. But at present, he has to break that barrier to be effective especially with the series on the line. So there is every chance he will make his presence felt.
