India starts series with a win. The West Indies seek to avenge loss.
India made their record stronger last night and the Windies will be looking to get back into the series today. Both teams had an ordinary day on a tacky wicket but with the sun beating down, the contest should even up a bit more. The West Indies will be looking to provide their powerful middle order with a platform to launch themselves, while the Indian pace battery along with the new addition, W Sundar will look for early wickets. India looked a bit rusty with the bat last night and they will look to play themselves a bit more, before going for the slog. They bat all the way down to Jadeja and they should keep that in mind as well. N Saini’s promising debut will give Kohli and his men more confidence knowing the spinners have always been threatening. The manner in which they lost the wickets will make the Windies worry more than the outcome itself. Their batsmen are all hard hitting ones but if they apply themselves before going berserk, it will help the team’s cause. They will be happy with the fight they put up with a sub-par total.
India will probably go in with the same team and give another chance to their middle order. The only possible change could be Rahul Chahar in place of one of the left arm spinning all-rounders. Though the Windies did not put up a great show, they will not be interested in making too many changes either. Jason Mohammed for Rovman Powell is something they discuss. Also K Pierre for Oshane, a possibility if the pitch is tacky like yesterday.
The pitch is expected to be one where batsmen flourish, with the ball coming on to the bat nicely. The tackiness might have vanished with some sunshine in Florida.
He got off to a start yesterday and looked good for a big score but took the bait from Narine to get dismissed cheaply. If he takes a few extra deliveries to get in and then starts striking, we all know what he can do. Hence, he is a safe bet to have in you Dream11 fantasy cricket team for today’s match.
With a below par performance on Saturday, he will be keen to get to the pitch and smash some runs. Not often do you see Kohli failing twice in a row. With the wicket expected to play better, he is a must have.
He is arguably the best player of spin in this side and he knows the Indian spinners well too. Walking in at 3 for the Windies, he got a good start to his innings but couldn’t make it big yesterday. Today could be the day he is up for a knock and one wouldn’t want to miss him out of their Dream11 fantasy cricket team.
The extra pace this man has and the bounce he extracts from the wicket are new for a sub-continent bowler. He is hurrying batsmen up and picking wickets at regular intervals. After an amazing IPL season and an excellent debut, he could be the X factor in today’s game.
