Can the men in maroon avoid 5-0?
India has gotten better and better with time in the Caribbean. They will be looking to make it 2-0 tonight and also think of testing their bench strength. The West Indies however looked good in parts in the 2nd ODI but couldn’t finish it off. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and look to put up an improved performance to level the series. Contestants Outlook India look balanced and settled with the top and middle order getting runs. The bowling has excelled as well. If Shami doesn’t get wickets, Bhuvi will and if he doesn’t someone else will. The Windies top order has been a huge worry. The form of Gayle has been the biggest of them all. Lewis has got starts but failed to convert them into significant scores. The bowling seems to be alright but the top order needs respond better.
India will be tempted to give the bench an opportunity but are unlikely to change their winning combination. The Windies will mostly bring back F Allen for O Thomas, who was ineffective the other day here at Port of Spain.
The match will be played on the same pitch as the last one. With some rain around again, teams might be tempted to chase today.
Just when he started to get going in the last game, he threw his wicket away. You cannot expect the same from a player of his calibre to repeat. He will be raring to go and get a big one today.
The Indian skipper was back at his best, scoring his first 100 after 11 ODI innings. He looked in control from the get go and it seems like he has some more unfinished business in the ODI leg itself.
The local boy has looked good but like his other teammates, he has failed to convert good starts as well. Today could be the day. With the WI top order not in the best of forms, he might get to play a long innings.
The Indian spinner has gone for some runs but has never failed to pick up wickets. He keep pegging the opposition down with regular wickets. If he bowls a good spell and has a few good overs, he can help bowl out the WI cheaply.
The Indian all-rounder has not done much with the bat or ball in his last 10 ODIs. With his number in the batting order, he doesn’t get too many opportunities and even the in the matches he has got some overs to play with, he has not performed.
