Nagpur gears up for the decider
At Rajkot, India has shown what was actually perceived of them leading to the series. The dominating performance has lead the visitors into their old pattern, where they struggled to contain the strong Indian Captain who piled on runs. But India’s problems weren’t solved entirely as they proved to be sloppy in the field once again which they are not known for in the recent past. On the other side, Bangladesh failed to make the most use of the batting conditions as they fell short by some runs to the par total on the Rajkot Surface. Now, as both sides gear up for the decider at Nagpur the focus is on how the surface will be provided for the crucial contest. Historically the surface hasn’t been an easy one to bat, just like Delhi’s. So it will be fascinating to see whether Bangladesh can repeat the feat as they did in Delhi or will India overcome their struggles on such surfaces.
Khaleel Ahamed who has been expensive in the last two games might be replaced by S Thakur. There is also a chance of considering Rahul Chahar in place of Krunal Pandya. Bangladesh on the flip side is likely to stick with the same playing XI.
The surface in Nagpur is not known for producing high scoring games as it has enough assistance for bowlers, especially spinners. So expect a tough day for batsmen if the surface holds to its nature.
After his early departure in the first match, Rohit in the second one has responded with a blistering knock, which proved to be too much for the visitors to handle. Given his record in the format and his record against opposition, expect another big knock for him in the decider.
He may have faced only a few deliveries in the two games, but in his short span, he has shown the subline form he is in at the moment. His all-round with the bat makes him one of the key batsmen in today’s match considering the conditions going to be on offer in Nagpur.
He may have picked only 3 wickets in the two games, but he has bowled better than what his figures show. He is the only Indian bowler against whom the Bangladesh bowlers have struggled in the series. He has a PPM of 42.5 and an MDTA of 1 in the tour.
The newbie has continued his recent domestic form in the series as well. He has provided the team with good starts in the two games but converting a start into a big knock is the next step that lies ahead of him. HE has a PPM of 47.5 and an MDTA of 1 in the tour.
The young leg-spinner has been the most consistent bowler for Bangladesh in the series. He has dismissed well-set batsmen on both the occasions which have resulted in the stem of run flow. He has a PPM of 57 and MDTA of 1 in the tour.
He may not have continued his heroics from the first match to the second, but he is the main man for the visitors with the bat. The contrasting results in the two matches are the result of his good and lack performances respectively. His track record against the hosts across the formats makes him a worthy pick to consider in the Dream11 cricket team.
