Bangladesh takes on Zimbabwe at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in the series opener.
Bangladesh would be keen to move on from their devastating loss in the Chattogram Test against Afghanistan. A game against a relatively weaker opponent like Zimbabwe might just be the remedy for the Tigers. Wicket-keeper/Batsman, Mushfiqur decided to get some match practice by participating in the lone warmup game for Zimbabwe (against BCB XI) and had a decent showing with the bat along with Sabbir Rahman (who was late to show up to the game). Bangladesh has made their intentions to play their younger players in this series clear. Saifuddin is declared fit to play and will mostly make it to the playing XI. Zimbabwe had an easy victory against BCB XI, thanks to unbeaten knocks from Brendan Taylor 57(44b) and Timycen Maruma 46(28b). Their poor showing against the Dutch and Ireland does not speak favorably of their odds. However, Zimbabwe has some batsmen capable of producing match-winning knocks and it will be interesting to see if any of their big hitter’s fire.
Typically the Sher-e-Bangla stadium produces scores of about 160 to 170, with some assistance to the spinners. Given their recent loss in the test, we might see a more spin-friendly pitch than usual. However, batsmen should be able to play their shots once they get settled in.
One of, if not the most consistent players of the World Cup, would be eager to get some runs in the shorter format and put the horrors of the IPL behind him. There is simply no way to leave him out and he is a must-have, even at the extremely high cost of 11 credits.
The Zimbabwe batting unit relies heavily on Craig Ervine’s prowess, as he has time and again produced match-winning knocks for Zimbabwe. His PPM over the last 5 matches is an impressive 66.6, and that makes him a must-have in your Dream11 Fantasy Cricket Team for today’s match.
He is Zimbabwe’s most prolific all-rounder with a PPM of 52.8, over the last 5 matches. He, however, does not have a great bowling record against the Bangladesh batsmen.
The Fizz is riding high on his recent record bowling performances. With the new scoring system heavily favoring bowlers, the Fizz is a must-have in your teams.
An impressive showing in the warm game puts Brendan in good stead ahead of the series opener. Given the credit constraints, it is either Brendan or Mushfiqur. It is worth having Brendan as an option in a few contests, given his ability to produce match-winning knocks. His overall MDTA of 2.16, suggests that he is not the most consistent, and that is why he is an X-Factor in the game against Bangladesh.
