A T20 contest likely to be dominated by all-rounders and bowlers
Afghanistan will be riding high on their recent success, while Zimbabwe would be eager to get some points in the second contest of the Bangladesh T20I Tri-Series 2019. A fascinating Dream11 fantasy cricket contest is on our hands.
Afghanistan is riding high on a win streak of 10 matches in the shortest form of the game. Two of those games have been against Zimbabwe at UAE, but that was more than 18 months ago. With Rashid Khan as the new captain, Afghanistan has had an emphatic test victory over Bangladesh and recovered from their disappointing showing at the World Cup. Without a doubt, they come out as heavy favorites. Zimbabwe almost managed to win against Bangladesh despite a poor showing from most of their top-performing batsmen. R Burl was the captain of the dream team in yesterday’s match and with a significant margin at that. If any of their top batsmen fire, they could well and truly pull off an upset here. The only real question is whether they have the maturity to see the dangerous Rashid Khan off.
The pitch at the Shere Bangla National Stadium has traditionally been a fairly balanced one producing scores of about 160. However, given the strong bowling attack and weaker batting attack, we might see a lower score of 140 – 150. There is rain in the forecast and the pacers might get some assistance early on. However, the spinners will be the key, especially if the same track from yesterday’s match is used again.
Although he did not fire yesterday, he is just too consistent a batsman to not have him in your teams. His PPM (Points Per Match) is at a staggering 68.2 with an MDTA (Matches per Dream Team Appearance) of 1.25. Clearly you can’t ignore him.
Another player for Zimbabwe and a power hitter, Sean Williams is also remarkably consistent with an MDTA of 1.25 in the last 5 matches. He is also an effective bowler, and his Effective Economy Rate (EEC) is 5.63.
The newly appointed captain is the most dangerous bowler of the lot, and he has become a handy batsman down the order. This IPL and the World Cup, he was seen off without any wickets; but he was incredibly economical. If Zimbabwe does not have a plan to see him off, he could easily run through the opposition. He is a worthy captain choice and should be in about 3 to 4 of your Dream11 Fantasy Teams.
A dangerous all-rounder, Nabi benefits from the pressure created by Rashid Khan. He regularly picked wickets for SRH and he has a high PPM of 66.09 in T20Is since 2017.
Zazai is a big bet on any given day because if he gets going he can completely dominate the game. However, his good performances are few and far between. In Grand Leagues, having him as a captain in one of the teams might be worth a shot if he gets going.
The top scorer of yesterday’s match with 113 points, Ryan Burl can also be handy under turning conditions. His poor MDTA makes him an X-factor in today’s Dream11 fantasy contest.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman
He has been stringing up a series of bad performances, even in the recently concluded Vitality Blast. However, batsmen will likely go after Mujeeb as they have to see off 4 overs from Rashid Khan. With the increased points for bowlers, it might be worth having him in your teams; but he definitely does not deserve a captaincy or vice-captain picks.
