A memorable farewell for Hamilton Masakadza?
It is the final match for Zimbabwe in the series and more importantly the last match for their captain. Afghanistan has already qualified and is sitting pretty at the top of the table. Can Zimbabwe pull off a considerable upset and make it a memorable exit for their captain?
Afghanistan Will be relieved to see Mujeeb back in form as he has been a big part of their success.
Having qualified already, they might test their bench strength especially as their top order has failed to dominate this series.
There is going to be some cloud cover with rains predicted for tomorrow, not today. So dew might play a part tonight. Normally spinners get some assistance and it should be case. However, if the conditions are overcast, pacers might get a lift.
All eyes will be on the captain Hamilton Masakadza as he wears the cap one last time. He has gotten a couple of starts against the Tigers, with a healthy PPM of 46.5. Against the Afghans, he was perhaps unlucky to get run-out and could only get 7 points in the game. He will be hoping to end his career with a win in Zimbabwe’s last league game.
Nabi is on a tear right now, with a PPM of 88.5 and an MDTA of 1 in this tour. His H2H record puts him very favorably to excel.
He had a great performance against Zim in the last match, scoring 98 points. He was the captain of the Dream team. In his last 5 games, he has a PPM of 43 and an MDTA of 1.67. It would not be wise to ignore him in this game.
He has been dismal thus far (after a promising show in the warmup game), with a PPM of 29.33 and only 1 DTA in the three games played. He is a more than capable a bowler and bowls 4 overs every game. We don’t have much H2H data to rely on, but we think he is too good a player to not get going even once, either with the bat or the ball.
Have Zimbabwe learned their lesson? We don’t think so. Based on the shot selection we have seen from Zimbabwe, we think Rashid will get a couple of wickets in a flurry and that makes him a must have.
After that one match, he has not really scored again. However, given his batting position and ability, he is a big bet in today’s game.
We had Mujeeb in our omissions last time, and we paid for it. Now that he might be back in form, he can be an extremely dangerous bowler. We recommend having him as a vice captain in one of your teams.
