Two contrasting teams face-off as one look for revival and another for the top position
The defending champions are lying at the bottom of the table without even a point to their name. A misfiring bowling unit has led then to this situation that Renegades are in now. Apart from Kane Richardson none of their bowlers have contributed. Their batting hasn’t been a complete failure as their bowling. The skipper Aaron Finch leads the batting unit with two half-centuries and Shaun Marsh isn’t far away as well. However, they will be going against a team which has been very strong in the bowling department. Four of the Sydney Sixers bowlers have picked up 5 or more wickets in this season of BBL. Sean Abbott leads the way with 11 wickets. Sixers batsmen have had starts to their innings but haven’t been able to carry it forward, apart from Josh Philippe none of their batsmen has scored a half-century.
Sixers are struck with a blow as Sean Abbott has been ruled out for at least 2 to 3 weeks, which might be this whole season of BBL. Vince is expected to come back. Renegades are likely to go with the same XI.
Melbourne Renegades Probable XI:
Sam Harper (wk), Aaron Finch (c), Shaun Marsh, Marcus Harris, Beau Webster, Daniel Christian, Will Sutherland, Cameron Boyce, Kane Richardson, Richard Gleeson, Harry Gurney
Sydney Sixers Probable XI:
Josh Philippe (wk), Daniel Hughes, James Vince, Moises Henriques (c), Jordan Silk, Hayden Kerr, Tom Curran, Ben Dwarshuis, Steven o’Keefe, Llyod Pope, Jackson Bird.
The Docklands has been a difficult one to bat on since last year. The average score at this venue in the 8 matches since last year has been very low and there has been only two scores of over 150 in the first innings. The first innings average score is around 140 with an average of 7 wickets per innings.
Undeniably Finch is one of the batsmen who Renegades will be dependent on and he has not let them down. With two half-centuries to his name, he is the highest run-scorer for Renegades. As always Finch is one of the popular picks in the fantasy teams, he has a PPM of 57.75 and an MDTA of 1.0 in this tour. Finch has been a part of the dream team in all the matches he has played.
If Finch is the commanding officer, Marsh is the executive officer when it comes to batting. He has also scored over 150 runs with one half-century. Marsh is not far from Finch in terms of PPM list as well. With a PPM of 49.2 and MDTA of 1.33 he is one of the important picks in the fantasy team.
Curran is also having a fruitful year of BBL 2019-20, with the ball as well as with the bat. Barring one match where he got thrashed for 52 runs, all other matches have been decent. In the previous match with the bat he scored 35 and in the one before that, he scored an unbeaten 43. His dynamic, all-round ability is one thing that would entice us to keep him in the fantasy team.
Richardson has been at the helm in the bowling department for Renegades with 8 wickets, but he is lacking support. In this tour, he has a PPM of 66.25, and he has the highest PPM among the Renegades players.
