Will Heat give it back to the Thunder at the Showgrounds?
After dominating them in the opening match, Sydney Thunder will again clash off against the Brisbane Heat for the second time in the season. Post that match, Thunder repeated the feat against the Renegades in their second. But since then, they have had to work hard in the remaining three matches in which they have won only one game. The Heat, on the other hand, is going through an inconsistent season by winning only two out of five matches played.
Brisbane Heat possible XI
Tom Banton, Max Bryant, Chris Lynn, Matt Renshaw, Ben Cutting, Jimmy Peirson, Mark Steketee, Josh Lalor, Mitchell Swepson/, Jack Prestwidge. Zahir Khan, Ben Laughlin.
Sydney Thunder possible XI
Alex Hales, Usman Khawaja, Callum Ferguson (C), Matthew Gilkes (WK), Alex Ross, Chris Morris, Daniel Sams, Chris Green, Arjun Nair, Chris Tremain/Gurinder Sandhu, Brendan Doggett.
Only a handful of games have been played at the Showgrounds Stadium to date. In those matches, there has been enough assistance for everyone, as was the case in its first match of the season a few days ago.
The Thunder’s captain is in some form in the season by scoring back to back crucial runs for the side. It can be said that he is the top-rated batsman of the match with a PPM of 65.4 and an MDTA of 1.25
The Thunder’s middle-order batsman is yet to come up with a match-defining knock but he has already made a difference between winning and losing in the fantasy team. He has made it to the dream team on every occasion in the tour.
He is the only batsman of the side who has been consistent. He has at least provided the side with a start or chipped in with a wicket in the five matches he has played. His PPM of 60 and MDTA of 1.67 makes him a must-have Heat player.
He may not have been at his best at the end of MSL, yet he made sure that his poor performance didn’t have any effect in the BBL. He looked fresh and rejuvenated in the three matches played where he made it to the dream team as many times. He has picked a couple of wickets in every match played so far.
It has been all or nothing from him in the season. In the five matches played he has scored two 80+ scores, but didn’t cross 30 in the remaining three. Whenever he played big the team has won the game in the season. So expect him to fire once again, considering the situation the team is in at the moment.
