Domestic cricket returns in England

England has been showing the way for the world cricket to resume with their stellar implementation of a bio-secure environment. After resuming international cricket earlier in July, it’s now time for the domestic cricket to get going as the Bob Wills Trophy 2020 begins on the 1st of August. The new Trophy is nothing but the trimmed County Championship. In one of the nine games to be played in the first round, Essex takes on Kent in South Group at Chelmsford.

Pitch Report

Chelmsford is one of the fast scoring venues in England, thanks to the dimensions of the ground and the nature of the pitch as well. But batting becomes difficult as days go by, spinners will more in play on the final day of the test match. The weather is clear for the opening two days and on the final day as well but there is a forecast of rain on the third day of the match.

Must have players

Dan Lawrence

He is one of the hottest picks for the match. The young batsman is in great form of late in the longer format. He has scored runs everywhere possible for the England Lions over the last couple of years. At times he can also be a handy bowler, for he is known to chip in with a wicket or two.

Jamie Porter

He is one of the leading wickets takers in the past 5 years or so in the domestic circuit. He has the ability to make inroads early in the innings and set the opposition in disarray. He is a must-have bowler in any fantasy team.

Darren Stevens

The veteran seems to be getting better by age. Even at 44, his hunger for the game doesn’t seem to fade away. He is a must-have allrounder in the fantasy team and also a captaincy choice to try out, especially in Grand Leagues.

Harry Podmore

Alongside Porter, Padmore has also been one of the most consistent bowlers in the domestic circuit. He is also known to score handy runs down the order whenever the occasion arises. He is one of the first choice players from Kent in today’s fantasy team.

X factor players / Big bets

Tom Westley

The veteran may have lost his place in the England side but for Essex, he is one of most prolific run-scorers. His recent form may be on a downward path but a big knock is round the corner for the Essex skipper.
