The losing side ends their campaign here
The CPL2019 is already into its final week of the league phase but apart from Guyana Amazon Warriors, no team has booked their place in playoffs yet and no team is out of contention from the remaining 3 spots either. Although Saturday’s contest between St Lucia Zouks and Jamaica Tallawahs will change the scenario as both teams are in a must-win situation with only 2 wins from 8 matches played so far.
Both the teams have had a poor run in the season, the ability the sides have in the batting hasn’t been replicated on the field on a consistent basis. When it comes to bowling, Zouks has been decent with the attack they have had. While Jamaica’s attack has performed above their weight considering the experience in the ranks. It does not matter how both the teams performed thus far, but now they need to bring in their A-game in the crucial encounter, as a loss kicks the one of the teams out of the tournament.
Even after a hefty defeat in the last game to Guyana, St Lucia Zouks are unlikely to make any changes to the Playing XI. For Jamaica, Andre Russell is likely to come back into the Playing XI after missing the last game due to an injury and Linton Das who joined the squad recently is likely to replace the underperforming George Worker.
The surface at Darren Sammy International Cricket Stadium has produced good batting-friendly surfaces so far in the season where the average score of teams that bat first is around 166. From a bowling point of view, spinners and pacers with variations have had much success here.
He has lit up CPL with breathtaking batting so far in the season. He has come up with 68.5 points per match in the season which makes him a must-have in the Dream11 cricket team. His last five innings in the season read 41, 87, 40, 28 & 62 runs.
He may not have featured in all the Jamaica Tallawahs matches in the season but in the five matches he played in the season, he has made it to the dream team on every occasion. His PPM of 48.2 in the season is a reflection on his good show in the season where he has come up with all-round performances.
Colin de Grandhomme
He started off the season well with few brisk knocks in the middle order and later had a couple of poor matches but he has come back strong in the last game with a blistering 65 runs off just 37 balls. Even with a couple of poor innings, he has a PPM of 46 in the season.
The World’s premier all-rounder in the format hasn’t been fully recovered from the injury he sustained in the IPL. But he has been top class when comes to performance, his PPM of 60.4 in the season makes him a must-have in Today’s game.
The Universe Boss may have had a poor showing in the last 3 matches but his reputation to come up with match-winning knocks make him a big bet player to consider. His PPM of 41.75 is a clear reflection of that, as he scores big when he does score, to make up for his poor showing.
