Will Tridents stop the strong Warriors?
Guyana Amazon Warriors have started the season with a bang with consecutive victories. The first match may have been a slightly close contest but in the second they have come up with a dominating performance. Barbados Tridents on the flip side is yet to play a match in the season. Having finished at the penultimate position in the points table in the previous edition they hope to turn the table this time around. Guyana’s success may have been mainly due to their bowling in both the matches, but the way their top-order performed in the second match gives them more confidence which they were looking for, from their batting unit. Barbados which has a thin batting unit will be tested for sure against the Warriors, so the focus will be on their bowling line-up, which is loaded with surplus options.
The Warriors is unlikely to make any change to the winning combination.
Barbados Possible XI: Johnson Charles, Jonathan Carter, Shai Hope, Alex Hales, Jason Holder, Jean-Paul Duminy, Sandeep Lamichhane, Raymond Reifer, A Nurse, Josh Lalor, Chemar Holder.
The surface at Providence has been sporting enough in the two matches played so far where the average score has been around 150.
After a few low scores across formats in the past few months, Hetmyer has come up with a match-winning knock in yesterday’s game. In the first game of the season, he had also come up with a good start but he couldn’t convert it big.
After a 3-wicket haul in the first match, he continued the good form into the second as well. He is not only the leading wicket-taker of the season with 5 wickets from 2 matches but he is also the most economical bowler so far.
The overseas pro has been in the decent form of late. He has come into the CPL on the back of a good T20 Blast. He was the leading run-scorer for Nottinghamshire in the season. If he can adapt to the Caribbean conditions as quickly as possible there is every chance from him to top the run charts in this league as well.
He hasn’t had the best of times ever since the completion of the World Cup. But when it comes to CPL, he is one of the most sorted out batsmen in the league. He was the leading run-scorer for Tridents in the previous season where he scored 288 runs from 10 matches.
