In the first match of Thursday’s doubleheader where St Lucia Zouks face off against St Kitts Nevis Patriots at Queen’s Park Oval. Patriots, at last, registered their first win of the tournament in their fourth match of this season now it’s all about continuing the momentum at the crucial stage. Zouks which is at the second spot in the table have won 3 and lost 2 so far in the tournament. Bowling has been the core strength of both sides so it all boils down to how the batsmen are going to respond to the challenge.
Evin Lewis is the top pick in the batsmen category for this encounter. In all-rounders Mohammad Nabi, Rostan Chase, and Sohail Tanvir are must-haves given their consistency in the tournament. Rayad Emrit and Scott Kuggeleijn are the top picks in bowling.
Andre Fletcher (wk), Kimani Melius/Cornwall, Mark Deyal, Najibullah Zadran, Roston Chase, Javelle Glenn/Zahir, Mohammad Nabi, Daren Sammy (c), Scott Kuggeleijn, Kesrick Williams, Chemar Holder.
Chris Lynn, Evin Lewis, Joshua Da Silva, Nick Kelly, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Ben Dunk, Sohail Tanvir, Rayad Emrit (c), Imran Khan, Jon-Russ Jaggesar, Alzarri Joseph.
The surface at the Queen’s Park Oval has been on the slower side so far in the tournament where batting hasn’t been easy. Both spinners and pacers with variations have had enough assistance. So it’s imperative to pack the team with as many bowling options as possible.
In the tournament, he has shown why he is the highly rated all-rounder across leagues. After an ordinary start to the season, the Afghani has been right on the mark, whether it’s chipping in with wickets or playing handy cameos down the order. He has a PPM of 61 and an MDTA of 1.25 in the tour.
He had an ordinary outing in the last match but it is a lot to do with the length of the game where he could only bowl a certain number of overs. So far in the tour, bowling in the death has yielded him most of the wickets and we expect the same in this match as well with no rain threat for the match.
The veteran has lived up to his record so far in the tour. He is a must-have as he poses an impressive record in CPL. In the last match, he may been on expensive but in this match we expect a better performance from him. He has a PPM of 55 and an MDTA of 1 in the tour.
The Patriots skipper has been a consistent performer in the tour where he scored a PPM of 61. He has chipped in with a wicket or two in every match played so far and he has also been the most economical bowler for the side. Adding to it, he has been handy with the bat whenever needed.
In the last match, he was absolutely brilliant where he played a match-winning knock. He has also been consistently getting good starts in the previous matches as well, which made him be part of all the Dream Teams. Given his performance in the tour, he should have been a must-have but considering the opposition attack which has surplus off-spinners, there are chances he might not continue the form in this match.
