CPL2020 heads into the final week of the group stage. This is where the table can turn upside. In the first match of this week’s roster, The Knight Riders take on Jamaica Tawallahs at the Brian Lara Stadium as the action moves from Queen’s Park Oval. The Knight Riders are well placed at the top of the table and don’t seem to move anywhere as they are yet to be beaten in the tournament. On the other hand, the Tawallahs has gone through up and downs in the tournament with winning and losing as many as 3 matches. The equation is quite simple for Tawallahs, they need to win at least two games in the remaining four-game to finish in the top 4.
Glenn Phillips, Jermaine Blackwood, Rovman Powell (c), Asif Ali, Chadwick Walton (wk), Andre Russell/Nkrumah Bonner, Carlos Brathwaite, Veerasammy Permaul, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fidel Edwards.
Lendl Simmons, Sunil Narine/ Toin Webster, Colin Munro, Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard (c), Tim Seifert (wk), Sikandar Raza/ Akeal Husein, Dwayne Bravo, Khary Pierre, Jayden Seales, Fawad Ahmed.
The surface at Brian Lara Stadium has produced sporting games unlike to Queen’s Park Oval’s substandard surfaces. Spinners and Pacers have equally done well here in the season so expect the same trend to continue this week as well.
Phillips and the CPL there is something that ignites the kiwi batsman in the Caribbean. In a tseason, where runs were hard to come by he has stood up for Jamaica. His PPM of 51 and an MDTA of 1.5 in the tour makes him a must-have.
He is the most consistent Bowler of the tournament where he has chipped in with at least a wicket or two in every match played. His impressive PPM of 76 and an MDTA of 1 speaks volumes about his consistency. He is a worthy C or VC choice in any fantasy team.
In the last two games, he has been dismissed for a duck. But he has performed well in the first 3 games of the tournament. Now with the change in a venue where he has PPM of 50 and an MDTA of 1.18 makes him a must-have.
It may surprise many users he is not in the must-have category especially given his performance in the last match. But if Narine returns to the team his role with the ball diminishes to a significant amount. Now with the change in venue might also come to his shortcomings where he might be able to face many delivers given how games panned out here.
He is the first choice opener for Windes at the highest level but in the season for TKR he has been a disappointment. Given his lack of form, we expect he will not be amongst the top run scores of the March.
