Date & Time: Wednesday, September 02, 19:30 IST
Venue: Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad, Tarouba, West Indies
The first match on Wednesday between Trinbago Knight Riders and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots has no significance as it is dead rubber. The Knight Riders are at the top of the table with a 7-match unbeaten streak and the Patriots are at the bottom of the table with an only win from 7 matches. Both the teams might try out a few benched players to give them game time as both teams have very little to worry about, given the situation.

The Brian Lara Stadium has been sporting enough for the games that were played on Tuesday, and it had been the same in the first week of the tournament as well. Both Spinners and Pacers have done well here, unlike Port of Spain where it was more conducive to spin. The forecast for the match is for rain which could potentially shorten the game. So picking top order batsmen may be a key factor.
He seemed to be a different player at this venue where batting has been comparatively easier than at Queen’s Park Oval. His 65 set up the game for the Knight Riders which helped them to continue the unbeaten streak. His PPM of 50 in 10 marches at this venue makes him a must-have and also a captain choice in GL teams.
What’s there to say about the kingmaker? It has been usual business for the all-rounder. He may have missed a few games in the past week but that didn’t have any effect on his performance. He has a PPM of 90 and an MDTA of 1 in the tour.
The Patriots skipper has done whatever was necessary from him so far in the tour. He is the top wicket-taker for the side and has also been amongst the runs when needed. His consistency is a reflection of his performance in the tour where he has a PPM of 60 and an MDTA of 1.
The leading wicket-taker in the T20 format has not been at his best so far in the tour. He is known to be expensive as he operates at crucial phases in an innings. However he hasn’t been amongst the top wicket-takers off late.
He has been the only consistent performer in the batting unit for Patriots in the tour. But in this match, he may not be able to perform at his best given his poor H2H record against Knight Riders spinners. So we didn’t consider him as a captain or vice-captain option in the SL team.
