In the second semifinal of CPL 2020 St Lucia Zouks takes on Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Brian Lara Stadium. Both the teams have finished with 12 points each in the points table. This is going to be an even contest to watch out for as both sides won one a game each when these two sides meet a couple of times in the tournament. The Warriors are equipped with an all-round unit and have come to the fore at the back end of the season after an initial slow start. The Zouks, on the other hand, are reliant on their bowling given there are no star batsman in the lineup and consistent performers in the season. So it is clear that Zouks have to bat out Guyana to come on top as there is no edge when it comes to bowling between these sides.
Scott Kuggeleijn who missed the last game is likely to be back into the XI for this crucial encounter for the Zouks. Guyana on the other hand has to choose one between Kemo Paul and Kevin Sinclair.
Rahkeem Cornwall, Mark Deyal, Andre Fletcher (wk), Roston Chase, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Daren Sammy (c), Javelle Glenn, Kesrick Williams, Zahir Khan, Scott Kuggeleijn
Brandon King, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Ross Taylor, Kevin Sinclair/Kemo Paul, Sherfane Rutherford, Chris Green (c), Romario Shepherd, Naveen-ul-Haq, Imran Tahir
Conditions have been tough for batting at the Biran Lara Stadium apart from a couple of games. Even though the knockouts are being played on a new turf given this will be the second match of the day expect the surface to be on the slower side.
The veteran leggie doesn’t seem to get any older by age. He has been consistent as always throughout the tournament. He is the joint top wicket-taker alongside Mujeeb.
He has played a key role in Zouk’s journey to the Semis. He is among the top 10 wicket-takers of the season and also played handy cameos whenever the team needed most. He has a PPM of almost 60 and MDTA of 1.67 on the tour.
After a couple of match-defining knocks earlier in the season, he went through a rough patch in the middle but, towards the end he has found form. He came up with handy contributions. He has a PPM of 47 and MDTA of 1.67 on the tour.
One can never guess when the young wicket-keeper batsman will come up with a big knock. So far in the tour, he has either got out for a low score or he has come up with a handy contribution. We expect big from him in this encounter given he has scored 68 runs when these two sides met earlier in the season.
He has been among the top performers for Zouks in the season where he has a PPM of 53 and MDTA of 1.29. But we didn’t opt him for Captain or vice-captain choice in the SL team given his ordinary form with the ball in the last few games.
