Hosts Vs the World Cup beasts

After a thrilling victory for New Zealand in the first semi final, the stage is all set for another cracker of a contest when the hosts- England take on Australia. In the last two editions of the World Cup, the home team triumphed. Can we expect the trend to continue with England too? Or can we expect Australia to win this contest and see a rematch of World Cup 2015 Final?

Team News

Australia’s head coach Justin Langer has confirmed that Peter Handscomb will replace the injured Usman Khawaja. Marcus Stoinis is likely to be available after an injury scare. England may not make any changes to their line up.

Pitch Report

There is a 40% chance of rain as of now and the overcast conditions could help the fast bowlers initially. But due to the dimensions of the ground, we witnessed high scoring contests in the last couple of games played in this venue.

Must have players

David Warner

He has definitely upped his game by adding a cautious approach early in the innings. He was not the Warner we used to seeing, but his new approach has brought more consistency to his game. He is the second leading run scorer in the tournament with 638 runs from 9 matches. He just needs 11 runs to be the highest run scorer in this edition and 36 runs to be highest run scorer for any edition of the World Cup.

Mitchell Starc

The Aussie speed star is in immaculate form in the tournament by leading the wickets charts. There seems to be no one stopping him with the way he is bowling which makes him a must have bowler in the Dream11 cricket team for today’s match. He picked up a 4-fer against England in their last outing including that memorable yorker that removed Ben Stokes.

Joe Root

England’s leading run scorer in the tournament has scored 500 runs at an average of 62.5 in this edition of the World Cup. He has scored 75 runs in 77 balls against Mitchell Starc in ODI cricket and has got out to him only once (in the last match). His current form and his numbers against Mitchell Starc have certainly made him one of the must have players in your Dream11 team.
