The Rocks seek to stay in top 3 as Stars hunt for their first win
The team from Johannesburg is well truly out of the tournament as they are yet to register a win. This is the biggest upset of all, to be knocked out of the tournament in the mid-season itself given the Stars are the defending champions. On the other hand, the Rocks who face the Starts on Sunday have come into the contest on the back of a huge defeat against the Spartans which meant the Rocks drop down to No.3 in the table from the top. Another defeat here will build pressure on the Rocks as the position in the points table will change drastically at this business end of the season. So the Rocks seek to capitalize on the poor show of the Stars and hope to repeat the feat as they did earlier in the season.
Shoaib Malik who joined the Stars squad earlier in the week is likely to fill in the shoes of the Universe Boss. The Rocks on the other hand, is likely to stick with the same XI of their last match.
The surface in Johannesburg has been mostly on the high scoring side in the first 3 games of the season. But it seemed to have slowed down a touch at the moment. So expect a sporting game if sides exploit the conditions on offer.
The season may have gone wayward for the Stars but the opening batsman has been among the top 5 run-getters of the season. His PPM of 50 and MDTA for 1.5 in the 6 matches played in the tour makes him a must-have in today’s match.
The Stars captain’s consistent run-scoring may not have come in handy for the team but it proved to be game-changing for fantasy cricket players. Apart from a game where he didn’t get to bat he has made it to the dream team on every occasion. He has a PPM of 45.5 in the tour.
He has been the most consistent batsman for the Rocks in the season. He may have departed early in the last match but the way things went in the season he still holds the key for the Rocks. He has an impressive PPM of 55.8 and an MDTA of 1.25 in the tour.
He has proved to be the genuine wicket-taker for the Rocks. Apart from a match, he has chipped in with at least a wicket in the 6 matches played in the tour. He has a PPM of 46 and MDTA of 1.5 in this tour which makes him a worthy pick for the Dream11 cricket team.
