Batsmen in focus as bowlers seek to continue good form
The MSL is into its final stretch of the Group stage but the defending champs are in search of their first win of the tournament. They have managed to give some sort of fight in the last 3 games, yet they have failed to cross over the line. On Thursday their opponents, the Spartans are one of those sides who have got the better of the Stars earlier in the season. The Spartans with 19 points are at No.3 in the points table, they need to win the remaining two games to stay in the top 3.
AB Devilliers, Reeza Hendricks are the top two batsmen for the match with a PPM of 66 and 56 respectively in the tour. Temba Bevuma is next in the pecking order for the match with a PPM of 45 and an MDTA of 1.1.7 in the tour. Shoaib Malik who has played the only match in the tour is in good form. He has an impressive PPM of 58 in the last 5 matches.
Unlike batsmen, there are quite a few bowlers from both sides who are in good form in the tour. Morne Morkel is at the top of the charts with a PPM of 53.4 in the tour. Spartans’ R Van der Merwe, Lungi Ngidi are next in the order with a PPM of 47 and 40 respectively. The Stars’ Kagiso Rabada and Daune Oliver have also done decently in the tour, they have a PPM of 37 and 38 respectively.
Both sides are likely to stick with the same Playing XI of the last match.
Tshwane Spartans Probable XI:

The surface at Supersport Park in Centurion is known for producing high scoring games. But bowlers too have done well here, especially spinners in recent times. So expect something for everyone in today’s contest as well.
He is getting into the grooves at the right time as the Group stage is nearing the end. His 63 in the last match may not have proved to be enough for the team but it changed the course for fantasy cricket players. He is the only player from the match to have an MDTA of 1 in the tour.
He is the No.3 leading run-scorer of the tournament. Apart from a couple of matches, he has made his presence felt in the fantasy cricket team. His impressive PPM of 56 in the tour makes him a must-have in today’s match.
He is not one of those game-changers by any means but he is a must-have in the fantasy cricket team. His MDTA of 1.17 is a clear reflection of that. He has provided the team with good stars, and also consolidated when it was needed the most for the team.
He hasn’t had much to do in the last match where he played a handy cameo after a strong performance from the top order. But in today’s match against one of the strongest attacks, his performance is going to be so crucial for the side in case of early collapse. There is every chance he will come up with good performance given his good show in the CPL.
He has been the lifeline of Spartans’ attack whenever the team needed a wicket. But in the last match, it was not the case where he went wicketless. In today’s match, it is unlikely he repeats the feat given his form in the tour and the way spinners have performed at this venue.
