A must-win game for the Blitz
Friday’s contest against the Giants is a crucial one for the Biltz as they need to win the remaining two games to finish in the top 3. On the other hand, the Giants which is at the top of the table is certain for a top 3 finish. Now it’s about making sure they stay at the top for a home final.
Both sides are well equipped with all-round bowling units but the Blitz lack depth in the batting, which could be the deciding factor in the match given that there’s nothing much to differentiate in their bowling units.
The top contenders in batting for this match are Ben Dunk and JJ Smuts from the Giants who have a PPM of 63.7 & 58.4 in the tour. From the other end, Janneman Malan and Quinton Dekock are the choicest picks.
In the bowling front, there are quite a few consistent performers from both sides who can make it to the fantasy team. The veterans, Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir lead the charts with a PPM of 54.1 and 49.7 respectively. Chris Morris and Wahab Riaz are next on the list to have also chipped in with some runs. Junior Dala and Sisanda Magala have also acquired decent points but they have proved to be expensive most of the time.
The hosts might consider strengthening their batting by leaving out a bowler. The visitors are likely to stick with the winning combination.
Cape Town Blitz possible XI
Quinton de Kock(w/c), Janneman Malan, David Bedingham, Liam Livingstone, Vernon Philander, Mohammad Nawaz, Wahab Riaz, Aviwe Mgijima/ Marques Ackerman, Sisanda Magala, Dale Steyn, Anrich Nortje.
Nelson Mandela Giants possible XI
Matthew Breetzke, Ben Dunk(w), JJ Smuts(c), Heino Kuhn, Ryan ten Doeschate, Marco Marais, Chris Morris, Beuran Hendricks, Junior Dala, Akhona Mnyaka, Imran Tahir.
The surface in Cape Town has been mostly on the scoring side as the average first innings score in the tour has been around 170. Pacers have dominated the proceedings here so opting for more Pacers in the fantasy team is a wise option.
He is the second-highest point scorer of the match with an impressive PPM of 60 in the tour. Moving up the order seems to have done wonders for his form so as for the Giants. His crucial knocks in the tour have come at the top and we expect him to fire once again if he sees off the opening spell.
He is the leading run-scorer of the tournament in the Dream11 fantasy team having a PPM of 53 and MDTA of 1.6 in the tour. He either chipped in with good starts or came up with match-defining knocks. His contribution at the top is once again going to be crucial for the Blitz given the lack of depth in the batting unit.
He is yet to come up with his best in the tour, apart from a couple of innings there isn’t much from him. But he still managed to make it to the Dream team on 6 out of 8 occasions. This might be the time for him to come to his best given the side is in a must-win situation to make it to the top 3.
He has got to be the first player in the Dream11 fantasy cricket team sheet. He is the only player in the match to have an MDTA of 1 in the tour. The surface in Cape Town might have offered more assistance for Pacers but he is in good form to not be amongst the wickets.
The Giants’ bowling spearhead is a must-have in today’s match. He has a PPM of 54 in the tour, and above 60 in the last 5 games. Adding to it, he has also been amongst the wickets when these two sides met earlier in the season.
The Giants’ Skipper has been one of the most consistent performers of the tour. But in today’s match, he is not a great captaincy choice given his mediocre record against the Blitz’s bowlers and the way pacers dominated at the venue in the tour.
