Time for defending champions to bring their ‘A game’
The defending champions Jozi Stars is having a terrible time so far in the season by losing three games in a row. One of those losses came against the Giants whom they will face this time around at home. On the other hand, apart from that one victory, the Giants’ other match was abandoned due to rain, in which they had reduced the Spartans to 33/4 in 7 overs. The onus is on the home side to bounce back given the losses they have acquired in the season. But in order to do that, the Stars have got to overcome the Giants’ quality bowling attack which had undone them a few days ago.
Both sides are likely to stick with the same XI of their last match.
The surface in Johannesburg is known to produce high scoring games and in the season opener, it was the case. So expect another road for batsmen at the weekend. The forecast is clear for the match with temperatures hovering in the lower 20°C during the match.
The responsibility of captaining the side seems to have brought the best out of him. He has provided good starts for the team in the first two matches and in the last, he played a characteristic knock when everyone struggled. He has a PPM of 61 and an MDTA of 1 in the tour.
He may not be known as one of those consistent players but in the tour, he proved otherwise. His half-century in the first two games may not have taken his team home but it proved to be decisive for fantasy cricket players. He has an impressive PPM of 73 and an MDTA of 1 in the tour.
He is one of the few consistent allrounders going around the world at this moment. In the first game of the side, he has shown exactly why by chipping in with a wicket and playing a handy cameo down the order. He has a PPM of 54.8 and an MDTA of 1.25 in the last 5 games.
The Giants captain holds the key role in the side whether it is batting at No.3 or bowling overs in the middle. He may have had only a decent outing in the first game, but he is capable of providing more and we can expect him to do so as the tour progresses. He has PPM of 58 and an MDTA of 1.67 in the tour.
The young pacer is in good form of late in the format. In the first match of the tour, he has continued the same. His PPM of 51 and MDTA of 1.25 in the last 5 games makes him a must-have in the fantasy cricket team.
The English opening batsmen may not be in greatest of form in the format but one never knows when he can change the game. His unpredictability and ability to score at a rapid pace makes him a big bet to consider in today’s match.
