Season Kicks Off!

The 4th edition of Sankar Cement Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is all set to get underway at the picturesque NPR College Ground, Natham, Dindigul today. The tournament opener has the potential to be a cracker as it pitches two strong teams – last year’s finalists and hosts Dindigul Dragons and 2017 champions Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) against each other.

Probable XI

Dindigul Dragons: H Nishanth, N Jagadeesan (C & WK), NS Chaturved, V Totadri, R Vivek, R Ashwin, M Abinav, M Mohammad, R Rohit, M Silambarasan, T Nag.

Chepauk Super Gillies: K Gandhi (C), S Karthik, G Sridhar Raju, Gopinath, M Ashwin, U Sasidev, A Aarif, S Harish Kumar, M Sivakumar, S Bhat, R Alexander, G Periyaswamy

Pitch Report

There is rain forecast in the evening and there might be some interruptions, but the draining facility here is impeccable. We can expect a high scoring contest to kick start the season.

Must have players

N Jagadeesan

The highest run scorer of this tournament with 904 runs has been a rock for Dindigul Dragons in the past. Having had a two year stint with Chennai Super Kings, he would have learnt a lot and would be hoping to execute it in TNPL this season.

Kaushik Gandhi

N Jagadeesan’s counterpart Kaushik Gandhi is the second leading run scorer in the tournament with 902 runs. He was with Chepauk Super Gillies’ arch rivals TuTi Patriots in the previous seasons and he could turn out to be their trump card in this season

Ravichandran Ashwin

R Ashwin is coming back after a prolific stint in County Cricket with Nottinghamshire after he picked up 23 wickets in 3 matches. He can be a potential threat for the opposition with the bat too if he decides to promote himself up the order.
