Can the Veerans stop the roaring Panthers?
The two teams have met four times so far and the Madurai team has won only once and that too by a fine line of 11 runs. This edition though, they have looked a touch better than the Veerans and will look to better their record in Tirunelveli. There is a lot at stake as the team that loses is out of the tournament and the team that wins will play the loser of Qualifier 1, in Dindigul. Contestants Outlook The Panthers have been overly reliant on their openers but they have responded really well too. But in case they fail, the top and middle order should come good though they have not really had the best of opportunities to do so. Their bowling line-up has been really good with a lot of options and they are covered on that front. The Veerans have been quite reliant on a couple of players but they have a few more experienced players in the middle order than the Panthers who can turn the match on its head. Again, if a couple of batsmen in the top order can come good, they will look a lot better as a team.
MAD will probably go in with the same team though they tumbled, stumbled but eventually managed to win. VBK should bring back Divakar and Arun/Deeban for Sugendran and R Silambarasan. Aushik is expected to keep his place given his skill, style of bowling and experience.
The pitches have generally been a bit slow here in Tirunelveli and this being the second match of the day won’t help either. The fans might get a low scoring thriller tonight.
By far the most successful batsman in the MAD side, probably the most experienced as well. He has been really consistent throughout the tournament and the big day shouldn’t faze him.
Mr. Consistent for VBK, all 4 seasons put together. His form was a little worrying coming into the last game but he scored an important 50 in a must win game and shattered all doubts.
Is the match neck and neck, you want to drag it towards you and then send the opposition out of the contest? Sathish is the man for it as he as been doing this edition. He has scored 161 runs and also picked up 7 wickets at crucial junctures.
He is a utility cricketer who scores important runs and picks up important wickets. He is also a gun fielder. Any bit of brilliance from him on the field or with the bat tonight can pip the other team out of the contest.
The 24 year old all rounder who has been part of Kolkata Knight Riders in the past editions of IPL, has shown his ability to clear the ground in the recent TNPL games. Apart from his 60 ball 95, he has not done much with the bat but come the big day, he is capable of winning a match single handedly. His bowling is an addition too.
