Two evenly poised sides gear up for the final clash.
The Champions of 2017 season and the runner-up of 2018 season will face off each other in the all-important final of TNPL 2019 on Thursday. Dindigul Dragons and Chepauk Super Gillies have finished at positions 1 and 2 respectively in the league phase. Both the teams have faced each other a couple of times in the season in the opening match of the season and in the Qualifier-1 where each team won once. So the contest will be poised one in the final with the way both teams performed against each other and with other opponents. Coming into the strengths, both the teams have an all-round bowling attack and when it comes to batting, Dindigul relied heavily on top order whereas for Chepauk it was an all-round effort as one or the other batsman chipped in every time.
Both the teams are unlikely to make any change to the Playing XI for their last match.
The surface at Chepauk is usually known for its slow and two-paced nature and it was the case in the only match played in the season. Coming to the weather, the rain loomed over the course of the match as per the latest forecast report. So a shortened game is likely on the cards for the final.
He is the leading scorer of the tournament with 448 runs from 9 matches. He has held the Dindigul batting intact alongside Hari Nishanth. He has failed to score a 20+ score only once in the season and that match, Dindigul lost by a huge margin. So Jagadeesan is an integral part of his team in the final.
Dindigul batting has revolved around Hari Nishanth and Jagadeesan in most of the games. He has complemented Jagadeesan well at the top order which is one of the main reasons for Dindigul’s presence in the final, where he has to continue his good form if Dindigul has to be crowned as Champions.
He is the player of the season for Chepauk. His all-round performance played a crucial role for Chepauk’s way to the final in the season. He has picked 15 wickets from 8 matches and he has also proved to be handy with the bat whenever the team needed. So he is certainly up there with Jagadeesh as the most sorted player in the Dream11 cricket team for the final.
It is Jagadeesan for Dindigul, Gopinath for Chepauk when it comes to batting. He has scored 293 runs in 8 games played so far. The only worrying sign for Chepauk is that Gopinath has failed to cross 20+ score on both the occasions against Dindigul in this season.
