Another place in the playoffs up for grabs
The only team to enter the playoffs so far (DIN) have by a distance looked the most balanced outfit. They will take on another strong team, the Veerans, who had a hiccup in their last game. The experienced trio of Aparajith, Sathish and Sanjay will look to make sure it was just a one-off game, and become the first team to beat the Dragons in this edition. DIN middle order was tested in the last game and it proved to be a chink in their armour. Some brilliance from Jagadeesan took them through but it will be interesting to see if someone from the middle order steps up. Other than that, they look settled and dangerous. VBK, on the other hand have had issues at the top. Their middle order has bailed them out on most occasions. All 3 combinations have been tried, yet they haven’t been fruitful and they will look for a solid start to test a team like DIN.
DIN played M Abhinav in the last game for Trilok Nag and he is likely to keep his place as he didn’t quite get the opportunity to prove himself. That means, same squad is likely. VBK bowling looks quite settled and middle order as well. They will look to tinker their opening slots by picking 2 out of Vishal Vaidhya, Deeban L or Siddharth. With Vishal getting enough opportunities but failing, he might be the one getting dropped.
The groundsmen had a day off to roll out the pitch and get it better prepared for tonight. It is expected to be another run fest with some purchase for all bowlers.
He is an automatic choice in most teams. He has been Mr. Consistent, Mr. TNPL and we could go on. The only record he was yet to achieve was getting a hundred, but he did that too in the last game. He continues to be the highest run getter in TNPL history.
He has been the finisher with the bat and the man with the golden arm with the ball in hand for VBK. He hasn’t failed in a single match yet and is a must have. He is the only player this edition to score 150+ runs and pick up 10+ wickets so far.
With a below par performance on Saturday, he will be keen to get to the pitch and perform well. Not often do you see an all-rounder of Ashwin’s stature failing twice in a row. He is expected to comeback stronger, making him a must have.
Mr. Consistent for VBK and also their highest run getter this season. Batting at 4, he averages 45 and holds the innings together more often than not, thus making him a preferred choice to have in your Dream11 fantasy cricket team.
The hard hitting southpaw can also roll his arm over with some left arm orthodox. He has had only one big innings so far but he showed everyone what he can do with that. He is a big match player and the stage is set for him to light fire on.
After a promising start to the tournament with a couple of 4 wicket hauls, he has slightly taken backstage now. With just 1 wicket in the last 3 games, he will look to do better in the coming games.
