Can the Gillies sneak into the top 2?
CHE have a simple task at hand. If they win, they finish 2nd and face the Dragons in Qualifier 1 and also have two chances to get into the finals. If they lose, they will finish 3rd or 4th depending on the game after theirs. TUT are out of the competition and will look to test their bench as well as finish on a high to salvage their pride. They have been one of the most consistent teams in TNPL after all. Contestants Outlook The Super Gilles are looking for some consistency from their batsmen. The bowlers are doing a decent job but that is not backed by the batsmen. A good start by the top order should ensure the batting is a tick. The Patriots’ middle order is what has let them down in the competition. Skipper S Siva tried to push himself down the order to bring solidity but then the top order failed that day. Their bowling is one of the best in the league and if they get their batting together, it will do them wonders.
CHE, though they lost their last game, would most probably go in with the same team. Siddharth M is the only one who is lacking some form but being a left arm spinner, he should get the nod. They can look to replace him with Sunny Singh or Arun otherwise. TUT have a settled bowling line up and they should get another go. The batsmen in the wings might get an opportunity since the game is not of much significance to them.
It is expected to be a slow wicket with some assistance for the spinners. If the batsman is patient enough, he can score runs too.
He has been in exceedingly good form and given great starts for his team more often than not. He has 138 runs in his last 3 innings and today could be no different.
Easily the most impactful player in the CHE line-up with 141 runs in the middle order and 11 wickets to his name. The situations in which those wickets and runs came make him a special player and a must have.
V Subramania Siva
The Patriots’ skipper has the second most number of runs in the tournament for his side and can change the match on his own, wherever he bats.
His contributions in the middle order have been invaluable. He is also capable of finishing off an innings well. He is also in good form with two 40+ scores in the last two games.
V Athisayaraj Davidson
He started off very poorly this season but has picked up some form off late. He picked up all the 4 wickets to fall in the previous game. He is a match winner.
