A shortcut to the Final up for grabs
The two teams have met four times so far and are tied at two wins each. All four games have had nail biting finishes and this Qualifier 1 promises to be nothing different. With two International all-rounders in action, this is going to be a cracker of a contest. The team that holds its nerve in a crunch match like this will go straight to the Final and the losing team will face the winner of the evening match. Contestants Outlook The Dragons rested a few of their key players in the last game and still found no answers to their middle order conundrum. Every other box is ticked for them except that. The middle order should step up today in order to go straight to Chennai, for the Final. The Super Gilles are still looking for some consistency from their batsmen. The bowlers are doing a decent job but that is not backed by the batsmen. The inclusion of Vijay Shankar should boost their batting, bowling and the entire balance of the team.
DIN will have their skipper R Ashwin back and should also have Chaturved back in the place of Sujay and A Arun. They have to choose between Praanesh and J Kaushik. CHE got their team spot on in their last league game and are expected to field the same.
Though a new track will be provided, it is still expected to be a little two-paced. The spinners will have a good time along with the pacers with decent variations. The batsmen, once they get in should make it big.
The highest run getter in the history of TNPL and this season as well. He had an off day during the previous game but his tremendous consistency and tendency to score in big games makes him a preferred choice.
He has been in exceedingly good form and given great starts for his team more often than not. He has 4 scores over 40 in 7 innings. On a big day, he is expected to deliver.
The most experienced player in the league, is definitely a must have in a Qualifier. Supporting his reputation, he is also the third highest wicket taker and run scorer for the Dragons.
Easily the most impactful player in the CHE line-up with 141 runs in the middle order at a SR of 160 and 14 wickets to his name. The situations in which those wickets and runs came in make him a special and a must have player in today’s match.
The World Cup number 4 for India has added a truck load of confidence and strength to the Super Gillies. His ability to score big runs quickly at this level and also his effective bowling with the new ball could be the key in today’s contest.
The young left-arm spinner started off the tournament with a bang against this same opposition. Though he had a few bad games in the middle, he has rediscovered his form and is likely to be the X-factor today.
