A chance for Derbyshire to seal their spot in the knockouts
Lancashire is still topping the table and a win will give them an unassailable lead at the top. Derbyshire will have to win this to make sure they make it through. A loss will keep them on 14 points. With a couple of teams on 10 points and 2 games in hand, DER’s place might be in doubt. DER has as many as 8 all-rounders amongst their ranks but the lack of specialists is hurting them a bit. They will look for a few special performances to beat the side topping the table. LAN have been exceptional as a team. Their batsmen are in a really good from combined with some terrific tight bowling from their bowlers. Only one of their bowlers has an economy of over 8.
Both teams should go in with the same playing XI as the last game.
The wicket at Manchester has been a slightly tacky one. The average first innings score is only 156 this season and interestingly only one game has still been won by the team chasing.
The overseas pro from Australia is the highest run getter for his side (LAN). He has scored 254 runs in just 6 innings so far at a SR of 166.
The most consistent batsman for DER. He is also the second highest run getter, just 30 runs short of B Godleman. He has a SR of 145 for the 331 runs he has scored.
Tied with a couple of others, the highest wicket taker in the whole tournament. He has 18 wickets in just 8 innings. He has taken a wicket every 10 balls in the league so far.
One other guy who is tied on 18 wickets as the leading wicket taker in the league. An economy of 6.90 and a SR of 14 just adds up to the level of penetration.
For a player of his stature, he has not had an amazing game so far though he has a few good games. He has scored 183 runs and picked up 13 wickets so far. If he gets going, he can be virtually unstoppable.
