Will Middlesex continue the winning momentum?
Middlesex seems to be a different team altogether compared to the previous season where they only managed to win two games out of 14. Now they have won two out of two games played so far, if it was AB Devilliers in the first match, it was David Malam in the second, who came up with match-defining knocks. On the other side, Gloucestershire kick-started the season by restricting Glamorgan for 96/8 in 15.3 overs before rain played spoilsport.
Middlesex Possible XI: Stephen Eskinazi, Dawid Malan (C), Nick Gubbins, AB de Villiers, John Simpson (WK), George Scott, Tom Helm, Toby Roland-Jones, Steven Finn, Nathan Sowter, Mujeeb ur Rahman.
Gloucestershire 14-member squad: Michael Klinger (C), Miles Hammond, Ian Cockbain, Benny Howell, James Bracey (WK), Ryan Higgins, Jack Taylor, Andrew Tye, Tom Smith, David Payne, Matt Taylor, Chris Liddle, Chris Dent, Graeme van Buuren.
The surface at Chelmsford has produced sporting games in the 2018 T20 Blast and this time around it is the same for Saturday’s match. 320 odd runs have been scored and 13 wickets fell in the previous match played here. The forecast is clear for the day with temperatures hovering in the higher 30°C during the match.
AB de Villiers
The 360-degree batsman is desperate, while he tried to play the switch hit against Tahir in the last game where he was dismissed for a low score. He usually won’t fail often while playing such shots, but the last game might have been a one-off game for the versatile batsman. He is certainly a must-have batsman in the Dream11 Cricket team for today’s match.
He was the main man for Gloucestershire with the ball in this season, where he was the top wicket taker for the side in the Royal London Cup. In the side’s first game he replicated the same form, as he picked a five-fer which played a major part in restricting Glamorgan to a low total. There is every chance he will continue the same in today’s game as well.
He may be in his first season of T20 Blast but he has shown immense talent in few the games he has played so far in this season across formats. He was the leading run-scorer for Gloucestershire in the Royal London Cup where he scored 333 runs in 7 games. He was also behind the stumps which makes him a worthy pick for Dream11 fantasy cricket players.
He is known for playing match defending knocks once in a while and the last game was one of those games where everything was connected from the middle. He possesses the x-factor to be considered as a big bet player in today’s match as he can change the game from nowhere if he gets going just as he did in the previous game.
