Somerset (SOM) Vs Glamorgan (GLA)

Will Glamorgan get their first win tonight?

Somerset is the only team on 10 games at this point. They are well placed at 5 in the table. A couple of wins in their remaining 4 games should most probably take them through. Glamorgan have had a season to forget. The tied match was the only time they came close to a win. They have not managed a single win in 11 games, though 4 were washed out. Their batting has arguably been the best in the tournament with two of their top-order batsmen leading the highest run-getters’ list. They also have a few bowlers with over 10 wickets in the league, making them a good all-round side. Only 3 batsmen have crossed the 100 run mark and only bowler has picked up 10 wickets in the tournament so far. They do have a couple of overseas pros in F Zaman and C Ingram but both of them have underperformed.

Team News

Shaun Marsh is a good addition to the team though he has had a rough week with the bat. Glamorgan will look to test their bench. Somerset should go in with the same team as the last game.

Pitch Report

The last two games at this venue were washed out. Before that, the team batting first put up a moderate score but was able to defend it easily as there was assistance for spinners.

Must have players

Babar Azam

The overseas pro from Pakistan has been unbelievably consistent, scoring tons of runs. He is the highest run-getter in the tournament by far with 434 runs including 3 fifties and a hundred.

Tom Banton

Azam’s opening partner has been in equally good form, amassing 396 runs at an SR of 161. He also has 3 fifties and a hundred to his name.

Max Waller

The leg spinner has provided Somerset with timely breakthroughs whenever the ball was tossed to him. For a wrist spinner, his economy is also a commendable 7.57.

X factor players / Big bets

Colin Ingram

The Glamorgan skipper has been short of runs for a while now. He has just 166 runs in this tournament so far with a sole fifty. He is sort of coming back into form and the 41 he got in the last game suggests so. If he gets going, it will be a treat to watch for any fan.
