Sharks looking to consolidate their spot as the Eagles look to fly higher
The Sussex Sharks is well placed at the top of the table and will look to consolidate their position in the table. The Essex Eagles is second from the bottom in the table. They are looking for some inspiration to move up the ladder. They have been unlucky as well with 4 games being washed out by rain. By far SUS has been the best team in the Vitality Blast with the likes of overseas pros like Rashid Khan, David Wiese and Alex Carey. They are well supported by the local experience and talent of L Wright, C Jordan among others. They have all their bases covered. ESS also have good options when it comes to bowling with some overseas pros like M Amir and A Zampa but the batting has let them down. The one match in which their top order clicked, they scored 206 and won the game comfortably.
Both teams should go in with the same squad as their previous games. Coming off a long break, they would want their first choice team to start off.
Last 3 games at this venue have been reasonably high scoring but the team batting second has comfortably chased the score down.
The veteran has been having yet another successful year with the bat. He has 266 runs in 8 innings at a SR of 120, holding the innings together match after match.
The 22-year-old batsman has been one of the main reasons behind Sussex’s success. His consistency at the top of the order has been amazing.
Highest run-getter for his side (ESS) this season so far. He is also the only man to score a 100 for his side this year. His military medium bowling can also be used as an option to pick up crucial wickets.
The medium-pacer has taken the backstage letting the SUS batsmen be in the limelight. He is a major contributor with the ball and a huge reason why SUS is at the top. He is also the highest wicket-taker this season for the Sharks.
