A chance for the Bears to get into the mid-table muddle
The Worcestershire Rapids are well placed at number 2 in the table. A win here will most probably guarantee them a spot in the quarter-finals. The Warwickshire(Birmingham) Bears, on the other hand, are at number 7, struggling a bit. A win tonight will take them as high as 5 or even 4 if they win convincingly. WOR has an array of batsmen and all-rounders and it is something to boast about. They have all done their bit in the games so far, helping the Rapids perform well as a team. WAS has had a lot of trouble with their batting off late. Scores of 134 and 119 in the last couple of games have given their bowlers low or even no chance to get back into games. The batting has to come good for them to perform better.
Both teams won their last completed match and will look to retain the same winning combination.
When there is no rain around, the pitch is very good for batting and a high scoring game can be expected. Though there might be a few clouds around tonight, no rains are expected.
Not only is he the second-highest wicket-taker for WOR this season so far, but he has also contributed 143 runs with the bat. His consistent all-round abilities make him a must-have.
Though he has not converted starts into big ones, he has consistently scored runs at the top of the order for the Bears. He has an aggregate of 336 runs at an average of 42 this season so far.
The Kiwi opener has had an ordinary time in the Vitality Blast so far, but he has had a much-needed break which should help him recoup and get back into form. His record speaks for himself in the format.
The WOR opener had a good start to the tournament but went into a bit of slumber after that. The break and the 84 in the first-class game should help him out. He could be the X factor at the top of the order.
