England drew the first blood of the tournament with a big win against South Africa at Kennington Oval. Having lost the toss and put to bat, England lost Bairstow for the very second ball of the match, but after that they built on vital partnerships throughout the innings. Roy, Root, Morgan, and Stokes came up with half-centuries to post a decent target on the board. Chasing the target, South Africa failed to build partnerships. Apart from Dekock & Van der Dussen, no one went on to make an impact.
He was the top point scorer and also the player of the match for his all-round performance. First up, he was crucial with the bat as he sailed the sinking ship with Morgan after the quick departure of the well-set Root and Roy. He continued the good work even after the departure of Morgan and made sure England posted at least 300 on the board. Later in the second half, he came up with stunning efforts in the field and also bagged a couple of wickets at the end.
England’s Mr.Consistent lived up to the expectations of fantasy cricket players, as he came up with his average points contribution in the match. He had built a handy partnership with Roy after the early exit of Bairstow which in turn set the platform for the middle order batsmen to post a decent target on the board. He also proved to be handy in the field and made 44 points overall.
Quinton de Kock
He was the lone warrior for South Africa in the chase, as he came up with a brisk knock. He was aggressive in approach even with the fall of wickets at the other end, which made sure South Africa was not out of the chase in a tricky situation. He may not have taken his team home, but he certainly didn’t disappoint any of the Dream11 fantasy cricket players.
Playing only his fourth ODI and first World Cup match, Archer didn’t show any signs of nervousness in the match. He dismissed the core of South Africa’s batting line up with his impressive spell. The number of wickets he bagged & the economical spell gave others bowlers an advantage of getting into their bowling with ease. He was also handy with the bat at the very end of England’s innings. He made 45 fantasy points overall.
He proved to be a disappointing pick for fantasy cricket players in the match, as he couldn’t contribute any points. His early departure meant England had to approach with a defensive gameplay in the powerplay, which is usually an area where they go with all guns blazing.
Faf du Plessis
The Proteas Skipper had failed to produce a significant knock when the team needed it the most. He may have been useful in the field, but didn’t come in handy for his side in the end result. He made only 17 fantasy points.
