Expert Review of New Zealand (NZ) Vs South Africa (SA)

South Africa almost out of the world cup!!!

South Africa might have lost their chance of reaching the semifinals of the World Cup 2019. In a must-win game against New Zealand, South Africa failed to hold their nerves in pressure situations. The nerves showcased by the Proteas replicated the semifinals of the 2015 edition. Batting first on a tough wicket, SA managed to post a decent score of 245 on the board, as Amla and Dussen came up with half-centuries. In the second half, the Proteas didn’t hold on to the opportunities presented to them as Williamson took Kiwis home with a brilliant Century.

FD Players Performance
Players who performed well

Kane Williamson

The Kiwis captain has lived up to the expectations of Dream11 fantasy cricket players in style, as he came up with a match-winning knock. He made the most of his luck presented by the Proteas throughout the innings. His partnership with De Grandhomme in the second half of the chase was the turning point in the match. He made 68.5 fantasy points.

Rassie van der Dussen

He played a crucial knock in the middle overs of Proteas innings while wickets kept falling regularly on the other end. If not for his knock, SA would have wrapped up for an even lower score. His partnership with few other middle order batsmen dragged Proteas to 245. He made 41.5 points.

Colin de Grandhomme

After a long time, DeGrandhome has come up with a match winning knock for the Kiwis. His brisk innings, when NZ were in trouble and the required rate was mounting, allowed Williamson to play his natural game and see the game through. The partnership with Willamson was a crucial part of the chase as there was still many runs to score and no batsman to follow after them. He made 52 fantasy points.

Players who didn’t Perform

Quinton de Kock

He failed to live up to the expectations of fantasy cricket players. He departed quite early in the innings with scoring just 5 runs. He may have come up with few fantasy points in the second half of the match, but he couldn’t come close to his average points contribution per match. He was still part of the dream team though.

Ross Taylor

Kiwis’ highest run-scorer over the last couple of years has had a rare failure. He departed scoring just a run and he couldn’t contribute much in the field either. His rare poor outing has certainly come to hunt Dream11 fantasy cricket players as he made only 2.5 points.

FD Grand League Team Prediction

We did moderately well with our predictions for the match. We predicted most of the top performers in our best grand league team and also nailed the captain choice. Had we predicted a couple more top performers correctly, we would have come close to the overall dream team points.
