Expert Review of England (ENG) Vs Australia (AUS)

Australia first to enter Semi-finals of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Australia proved to be too good for England in a match which was perceived to be a thrilling contest for starters. The victory for Australia meant that they are the first team to officially qualify for the semi-finals in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, and on the flip side the very result made England’s road to semifinals tougher. Coming back to the contest, England won the toss and elected to bowl first failed to make use of the early movement which was capitalized by Aussie openers. Later the Aussies continued the good work through the middle overs but failed to make a telling impact in the death overs. In the second half, apart from Stokes, no batsmen got going for England which proved too costly in the end result.

FD Players Performance
Players who performed well

Aaron Finch

The Aussie captain made the most use of his present form. He came up with the second hundred of the World Cup. His partnership with David Warner has given the team a great start and later he continued the same with Khawaja to set things beautifully for the middle and lower middle order batsmen. He was the top point scorer of the match with 67.5 points.

Jason Behrendorff

He was the surprise package in the match as he came up with a 5-wicket haul from nowhere. He initiated the collapse of England Top order by dismissing Vince for a duck. Later in the middle and at the death he picked crucial wickets of Bairstow & Woakes. His partnership with Strac proved to be good for England batsmen in the chase. He made 67 fantasy points.

Ben Stokes

He was the lone warrior for England in the chase. He showed grit and courage in the pressure situation when the team needed it the most. If not for Starc’s perfect yorker he could have seen his team home with his characteristic knock. He also proved to be handy with the ball where he got rid of well set Khawaja. He made 66.5 fantasy points overall and proved to be a worthy pick for Dream11 fantasy cricket players.

Mitchell Starc

There is certainly a reason why he is the leading wicket-taker of the World Cup. He came up with another impressive spell against England, where he picked the crucial wickets of Root, Morgan, and Stokes. His spell has taken the life out of England’s chase and it proved to be the difference in the end result. He made 56 fantasy points and certainly lived up to the expectations of fantasy cricket players.

Players who didn’t Perform

Joe Root

England’s consistent batsmen had a poor day with the bat. He was dismissed quite early in the chase which put enormous pressure on the middle order to come good. His poor show has hurt Dream11 fantasy cricket players as he failed to contribute his average points per match.

Eoin Morgan

In his short stay at the crease, he never looked comfortable against the Aussie bowlers. He failed to produce a knock when the team needed it the most. He made only 4.5 fantasy points.

FD Grand League Team Prediction

We fared moderately with our predictions in the match. We failed to predict quite a few top performers in our best grand team. We perceived the match to be an even contest between the sides, but it was otherwise and affected our results largely.
