World Cup finally comes home
It was the most thrilling game of cricket that one could ever witness. The game went into the wire with scores tied, and even super over tied and it came down to boundary count as England finally made the dream of their nation into reality. As always it was a fighting effort from New Zealand and this time they came so close but the irony of the game made them fall short of the ultimate price.
He was handy with his all-round performance in the tournament and on the big day, it was usual business for him. He looked pretty solid in the little time he spent at the crease and in the second half, he held the nerve in the death overs to keep the Kiwis’ hopes alive. He was the top performer of the Dream11 cricket team with 53 fantasy points.
If not for his knock in the later half of the chase, England wouldn’t have become the Champions. He was the go-to man for England whenever there was a crisis in the batting unit. On the final day, he had once again stepped up to the occasion when it mattered most for the team. His partnership with Butler was the crucial phase of England’s resurgence. In the end, he kept his cool even with fall of wickets which proved to be the game for England. He made 50.5 fantasy points.
He was the unsung hero of England’s success over the past few years. He was the top wicket-taker between overs 11-40 since 2017. That’s exactly what he brought to the table in the finals as he picked crucial wickets of Nicholls, Williamson, and Neesham in the middle overs. Those blows didn’t allow the Kiwis to perform in the death overs. He made 44.5 fantasy points and proved to be a worthy pick of Dream11 fantasy cricket team.
He was amongst the top pick of the bowlers for New Zealand in the final, just as he was throughout the tournament. He dismissed the well set Bairstow early in his spell and at the death, he got the better of Jos Buttler who tried to take the game away. His spell proved to be match-defining for the Kiwis as it hadn’t allowed Ben Stokes to play his natural game. He made 42 fantasy points and certainly lived up to the expectations of Dream11 fantasy cricket players.
The experienced campaigner has failed to live up to the expectations on him. He failed to step up to the occasion when it mattered the most for the team. His dismissal soon after the departure of the well set Nicholls didn’t allow the Kiwis to do the best in the death overs. He made only 7.5 fantasy points.
England’s most consistent batsman failed to come up with his average points contribution in the match. England may have won the match at the end, but his conservative approach put enormous pressure on the batsmen who followed next. He made only 6.5 fantasy points.
We were decent with our predictions in the match. If we had gotten a few top performers in our best grand league team, we would have come close to the overall dream team points. We almost got the right captain and vice-captain choices.
