Date & Time: Saturday, May 04, 20:00 IST
Venue: M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, India
The SunRisers Hyderabad will travel to Bangalore in what will be a ‘must win’ game for the franchise against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second of the double header game today. If the result doesn’t go their way, then they will have to hope that the three teams behind them in points table must lose their upcoming matches. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, however, are well and truly out of the race for playoffs and will bid farewell to IPL2019 in front of their home fans.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore will miss the services of all-rounder Marcus Stoinis dearly. He was a huge influence for them, both with the bat and the ball. They will look to bring in either Shimron Hetymer or Colin de Grandhomme as a replacement. The SunRisers Hyderabad might be looking at possible replacements for Abishek Sharma and Basil Thampi. Sandeep Sharma is likely to make the final 11 given his impressive record against Virat Kohli.
The pitch at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has been a belter throughout the season and we hope it will be another high scoring encounter. We have already witnessed 200+ scores here a couple of times this season. Teams batting 1st have scored 200+ runs in each of the last 3 matches played here between these 2 teams. Can we expect one more 200+ score today’s IPL match? We have to wait and see.
AB de Villiers
The last time these two sides played here, AB de Villiers scored a scintillating 39-ball 69 which was also incidentally the last home game of the season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2018 season. His batting strike rate is around 200 mark against the likes of Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma and Siddharth Kaul in T20s recently. But he has struggled against Mohammad Nabi, by getting out twice in 7 balls.
This is the 5th different IPL franchise Manish Pandey has been a part of and his best average (34.65) and strike rate (127.77) are with the SunRisers Hyderabad thanks to his recent good form. Yet, critics have been very vocal ever since he moved to Hyderabad in 2018 season. Also, he will be playing in his home ground M. Chinnaswamy stadium, where he scored a 38-ball 62 in his last IPL game.
Yuzvendra Chahal has dismissed all of the top 4 batters of SunRisers Hyderabad, Martin Guptill (2), Wriddhiman Saha (2), Manish Pandey (2), Kane Williamson (1) in T20’s recently. He is one of the top 5 wicket takers so far in this IPL and has been the lone shining light in the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling line up. He is due for a big 3 or 4 wicket haul.
Although Sandeep Sharma missed the last game for SunRisers Hyderabad, he has been in good form with the ball and picked up 2 wickets even in his last game. He is most likely to be slotted in for Basil Thampi considering his dominant performance over Virat Kohli. Sandeep Sharma has dismissed Virat Kohli 6 times in IPL history, which is the joint most number of times for any bowler. He has picked up 21 wickets in 12 matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore, his best returns against any IPL team.
