Date & Time: on Tuesday, April 2nd; 08:00pm IST
Venue: Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
Both teams haven’t won a match until now in the three matches that they have played, but on Tuesday the fortunes of one team is to change for sure. The question though – which team is it going to be?
When we compare the performance of both the teams which are in a slump, Rajasthan has fared better than Bangalore. In the three matches, Rajasthan was competitive, and they came close to victory. On the other hand, Bangalore was outplayed on two occasions and in one they almost crossed the line. Looks like Bangalore has more to sort out than Rajasthan for winning tonight.
Bangalore might include both Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile in the playing XI, considering both players are out of jet lag. They may rest Moeen Ali and Hetmyer.
The only person Rajasthan might contemplate on replacing is the expensive Dhawal Kulkarni with Varun Aaron.
A sporting pitch is all set in Jaipur for Tuesday’s clash. In the previous game here, Kings XI Punjab defended 184 and won by 14 runs.
Even though the South African cricketer was dismissed early in the previous match, he is still in good form. We believe that the last match was a bad day for the consistent batsman as he is too good a player to miss out on consecutive occasions. Against the Rajasthan bowlers, his record is quite good in the last five encounters, where he averaged 60.5. The only bowler who can stop AB Devilliers is Shreyas Gopal. He dismissed Devilliers twice. We are hoping ABD can overcome the Gopal challenge in this match.
He has become the backbone of the Royals’ batting lineup ever since he started opening for them. At this venue, he has a good record, he has scored 3 half centuries in the last 5 matches. We are sure he will put up a good show at this ground.
He has an amazing record against Bangalore bowlers, he scored 196 runs in last 5 five encounters at a strike rate of 176. If he has to continue the good streak against Bangalore, he has to overcome the opening bursts from Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Siraj. Either of the bowlers have his numbers on their back today, as Umesh has dismissed him thrice and Siraj twice in the last 5 matches.
In the previous match, Rahane received a lot of criticism for not bowling out spinners on the sluggish Chennai surface. He cannot do the same in Jaipur, as Gopal is in good form. He picked 3 wickets against SRH. In his short career, Gopal has good numbers against Bangalore batsmen, where he averages 7.8 and has a strike rate of 7.6. He would be up for picking Devilliers and Virat, as he dismissed them twice and once respectively.
He enjoys bowling against Rajasthan batsmen. He has Rahane’s and Sanju Samson’s wickets in his kitty. He dismissed Rahane thrice and Samson twice in the last 5 encounters. We sure hope he can bring about a great show tonight, since he is in form.
