Table toppers SunRisers Hyderabad will host Mumbai Indians in the 2nd of the double header scheduled on Super Saturday. Both teams are coming into this game after a win in their previous encounter.
The home team is set to name an unchanged squad, which means Kane Williamson is still not clear to take the field. Mumbai Indians will look to add either Mitchell McClenaghan or Ben Cutting instead of Lasith Malinga (unavailable for next 3 games) and they are likely to give Rahul Chahar one more chance despite Mayank Markande gaining fitness.
After witnessing scores of 198 and 231 while batting first in the two previous games here at RGIS, Hyderabad, we can expect another high scoring thriller with top order batsmen expected to do majority of the scoring.
David Warner has been in the purple patch ever since making he made a comeback into IPL. Along with Jonny Bairstow, he has done the bulk of scoring for SRH so far. He has always found a liking to MI bowling attack, scoring 477 runs in 16 matches at an average of 36.69. It is interesting to note that Krunal Pandya has not bowled to David Warner at all in IPL, considering David Warner’s impressive strike rate against the left arm slow bowlers.
We are only into 1/3rd of the IPL 2019 season, but Jonny Bairstow is already proving to be the best buy of the season. He has already scored 246 runs at an average of 61.50 and strike rate of 167.35 which is better than David Warner’s strike rate of 161.96. But he has got out all 4 times to leg spinners so far in this IPL. Will the Mumbai Indians and Rahul Chahar take advantage of it?
According to Rohit Sharma’s standards, he has not managed to give the kind of starts that his team expects of him and we expect the trend to continue at least till this match. His average (20.22) against SRH is the least for him against any IPL side. Historically in IPL, he has struggled against Sandeep Sharma having scored only 21 runs from 28 balls and has lost his wicket twice. So, picking Rohit Sharma for this match is a risky option.
|Batsman||Chance of success|
|Quinton de Kock||56.2|
The teams have followed a clear pattern while facing Rashid Khan in IPL 2018. They would like to rotate strike and try not to lose wickets at all against him while targeting other bowlers. This plan has worked to a certain extent but we might see Rashid Khan pick up a few wickets come this game. His economy against MI is an unbelievable number in T20s (4.06) and remember he was awarded the Man of the Match in both encounters against MI last year.
Like we mentioned above, Sandeep Sharma loves bowling to Rohit Sharma in IPL. He had a similar advantage against Virat Kohli. Hardly a few days ago he has managed to get his wicket and we can’t see no reason why he can’t repeat it against Rohit Sharma. Additionally, he has been amongst wickets recently and has picked up 12 wickets against MI in 11 matches.
