Date & Time: on Friday, 12th April; 08:00pm IST
Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata
After witnessing two Dre Russ magical innings at Eden Gardens, the fans from the ‘City of Joy’ will be hoping to see more of him. KKR wouldn’t dwell too much on the loss against CSK and will be hopeful of getting a win today to get the momentum going ahead of 3 consecutive home games. Meanwhile, a well rested Delhi Capitals side will be hopeful to make it a double against KKR, after a 4-day break.
KKR will look to retain the same combination as they don’t prefer too many chopping and changing. They might be tempted to go for Lockie Ferguson, but Harry Gurney deserves a couple of more chances to prove his mettle. DC might go in for an extra pacer in Trent Boult if the wicket is on the greener side.
We have witnessed a couple of high scoring encounters at Eden Gardens in IPL 2019 but if the pitch is as it looked earlier today and it turns out to be the same during the game, it will assist pacers a great deal. It looked greener than the last 2 games and when this was the case back when Windies played India here, India scrambled their way to successfully chase 110 in the 18th over.
Do you even want to look beyond Andre Russell after what he did in a couple of matches here at this very venue some 15 days back? His responsible knock in the last game against CSK on a tough wicket has only increased his stakes going into this match. He might have suffered an injury during the last match, but he has always fought them and emerged as an even better player. He has scored 40 runs in 16 balls against Sandeep Lamichhane and this might be one more reason for DC camp to drop the leggie for this encounter.
We all know he can change the match around in such a short span with his masterful stroke play. But consistency is what beckons Prithvi Shaw in T20s and to prove it he has scored only 39 runs in 3 matches after scoring a classy 99. However, he might come good in this game once again having proven his prowess against the KKR bowling attack in the reverse encounter.
Much like Prithvi Shaw, Rishab Pant has not had that many notable contributions with the bat after his scintillating knock in their season opener against MI. He is due for a big score now and if he takes the approach of negotiating Kuldeep Yadav (9 runs in 9 balls and 2 wickets) and takes the attack to the other bowlers, he is in for a big score.
|Batsman||Chance of Success|
The former Knight Rider is set to make a return at Eden Gardens. He is most likely to play today after missing out on a string of games recently and he has very good record at this venue. He has picked up a couple of wickets in each of his last 2 games here and has got the wickets of most of the KKR batsmen recently in T20s.
All the focus is likely to be on Kagiso Rabada after his super over heroics but KKR are expected to reduce his impact on the game by not giving him any wickets. On the other hand, Chris Morris, much like Trent Boult has a very good wicket taking record against the KKR top order batsmen and if they try to attack him, he will end up with some wickets.
|Bowlers||Chance of Success|
