Date & TIme: Tuesday, 16th April; 08:00pm IST
Venue: PCA Stadium, Mohali
The Kings XI Punjab’s seven match winning streak at PCA stadium was shockingly broken by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last game here at this venue. Punjab will be trying their best to prove that it was just a one off game. The Rajasthan Royals meanwhile has come into this game after defeating the mighty Mumbai Indians at their home thanks to Jos Buttler’s brilliance. It’s the reverse fixture of the infamous ‘Mankading’ incident and all eyes will be on the battle between Jos Buttler and R Ashwin.
As far as team news is considered, one is always in for surprises with the Kings XI Punjab. Hardus Viljoen and David Miller might be back for contention if they are fit and available. Rajasthan would like to stick to the winning combination if Ben Stokes is still unavailable.
PCA stadium has one of the largest outfields in the country but we have also seen a lot of dew settling in during the second half of the game. It’s not usually a very high scoring ground, but scores of 170 has been chased down in the past.
Players to watch out for
It’s always a tough call to choose between KL Rahul and Jos Buttler. This has been the case from 2018, as such has been their consistency throughout. But we went ahead with Jos Buttler in the previous encounter and it proved right. We are going ahead with Jos Buttler once again as we feel he has some unfinished business. He has a great record against most KXIP bowlers in T20s except Mujeeb ur Rahman, who has dismissed him twice in 37 balls but both these dismissals were after scoring a half century.
Chris Gayle is back to his devastating best. He is defying all myths about age barrier in cricket and not many batsmen were even close to his run scoring form when they were 39 years old. He has amassed a mind boggling 322 runs in the last 5 matches at this venue and has a strike rate of 325 against Jaydev Unadkat in T20s.
|Batsmen||Chance of success|
Dhawal Kulkarni might not be the fan favorite player but he gives you a wicket or two right at the top of the innings when conditions are favorable. He has got the better of KL Rahul, Chris Gayle and Karun Nair twice each in T20s. Chris Gayle especially struggles to counter the swing of Dhawal Kulkarni and scored only 27 runs from 27 balls.
Krishnappa Gowtham has had a torrid IPL season, picking up just 1 wicket in 6 matches so far. But this match could turn things for him. He has so far pocketed his state teammate Mayank Agarwal twice in 10 balls allowing only 9 runs. Power hitters like Chris Gayle and KL Rahul have strike rate less than 100 against this tall off-spinner.
|Bowler||Chance of success|
|Mujeeb Ur Rahman||71.6|
