Date & Time : Saturday, April 20, 16:00 IST
Venue : Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, India
The Mumbai Indians are at the second position in the table and the Rajasthan Royals are at the second from bottom. This clearly shows the contrasting nature of the performances of these two teams in the season. Rajasthan has had only two victories, one of which was against the last team on the table – RCB. The other victory was against the Mumbai Indians a week ago. Today is their last chance at keeping their playoffs possibility alive. Mumbai has won five out of their last six matches. They are sitting pretty with the second position on the points table, and now they will look for a chance to outplay Rajasthan as well.
Mumbai might consider leaving out Jayant Yadav if Ishan Kishan is fit to play. Rajasthan has done as many as three changes in the last match and those changes haven’t produced anything for them. So we can expect a few more changes from them today.
The surface at Jaipur has slowed down considerably in the last two matches. Today we can expect another slow pitch, where spin and slower balls will have a big impact.
He has been the backbone of his side’s batting line-up in this season. He is also in good form at this venue, where he scored 283 runs in the last 5 games he has played here. There are chances that he will replicate the same form once again against Mumbai as he did a week ago when he scored 89 at a strike rate of 206. But, he has to overcome Bumrah, who has dismissed him thrice so far.
He is just demolishing the bowlers in the slog overs irrespective of the opposition so far in this season. Rajasthan too had their fair share in that onslaught in the previous fixture between these two sides a week ago. If there is one bowler to stop him, that has to be Ish Sodhi, who has dismissed Hardik thrice in the 12 balls he has bowled to him.
The World’s best bowler is in good rhythm this season and he was the only bowler who has threatened the Royals’ batsmen in the past week’s fixture. His stats and form are on his back to replicate the same on Saturday. He has an impressive economy of 6.7 against the Royals and he has got the better of Buttler thrice & Samson twice in recent times.
He has an incredible record against Mumbai batsmen in his short career. He concedes only 6 runs an over and has a strike rate of 9.5 against the visitors. He got rid of Rohit twice in the 4 balls he has bowled to him, and he also dismissed Pollard twice in the 12 balls he has bowled and conceded only 5 runs in it.
Quinton de Kock
He has been providing great starts for Mumbai so far in the season. He scored 81 runs in the last match between these two sides and he might look to repeat the same in Jaipur as well. In order to stop him early Rajasthan needs to bring Gopal into the attack, as Dekock only managed 8 runs in 14 balls against him.
