There is nothing much to separate both these teams, as they are in similar position a with 8 points each. Kolkata has played just one game more than Hyderabad. Both the teams have relied heavily on specific players in batting. The momentum is on the home side today, since they have won two out of the last 3 games, and their bowlers seem to be coming to the party at the right time. On the flip side, Kolkata has lost four games on the trot and their bowling seems to be all at sea.
Both the teams are unlikely to make any changes.
The surface has slowed down considerably in the last 3 games when compared with that of the first 2 games of the season. But there has been good carry for fast bowlers and they have had more purchase than the spinners.
He has received a lot of criticism for the way he played in the last match, as it almost cost them the game in the end. Apart from a half-century, he has struggled to score runs in this season. If he continues the same, he might get dropped from the team which would be a great set back for the seasoned campaigner. Pressure is on him to turn up with a good knock in Hyderabad, where he has scored 136 runs in the last 3 games.
He is single-handedly carrying the weight of Kolkata’s batting with back to back unreal performances. In the previous match he may not have seen his team through, but he almost pulled off an impossible chase. Who better knows about his onslaught than the Sunrisers, against whom he produces lethal knocks.
He presently holds the orange cap of the season, so he is a must pick in any team when it comes to batsmen. He also has a good record against KKR bowlers in the last 4 encounters and when these two teams met earlier in the season he had scored 85 runs.
He is slowly getting into the groove in this season, as he was amongst the top wicket-takers for his team in the last few games. He might take that to another level against the KKR batsmen, who struggled to score against him in last four encounters. He got rid of Chris Lynn and Andre Russell twice in this period. So, it’s a no-brainer to introduce Rashid against the duo early in their innings.
