It has become a norm that almost every second match in the IPL is turning out to be a close contest. On Wednesday it was no different as the momentum fluctuated between RCB and KXIP throughout the match. First up, KXIP had done well with making early breakthroughs, but they couldn’t hold onto their good work as RCB’s middle order took over the game. In the second half, whenever KXIP seemed to take the game away, RCB pulled things back by picking wickets.
AB de Villiers
He was at his best with the stroke-making. He held his nerve when wickets fell around him, he settled slowly into the innings to give his team a solid foundation. Later though he unleashed his strokes all around the park by taking KXIP bowlers to the cleaners. If not for his knock, Bangalore would have packed their bags for the season. That’s the impact he had on the match which also fetched him the ‘Player of the Match’ title. He made 67.5 points.
He had come up with an all-round show in the match. First up he played his part in the crucial partnership with AB Devilliers which had given the confidence for RCB under pressure situation. Later, he picked the important wicket of Mayank Agarwal, who seemed to take the game away from RCB. Ha made 39 points in the match.
He was aggressive at the top of the order for RCB. He kept the scoreboard moving when other batsmen struggled to score at a fast pace. His smashing hit allowed Devilliers to his take time, which later proved to be profitable for RCB. He made 33 points in the match.
He had come up with an impressive bowling performance, as he was the pick of the bowlers for RCB. He dismissed Gayle early in the piece and also bowled the crucial final over of the match, yielding two more wickets. He made 31 points in the match.
He tried his best to pull the game back for KXIP in the death overs. He was destructive with his approach as he took RCB spinners to the cleaners. But he couldn’t finish off the game as he struggled to score freely against the Pacers. He made 30.5 points.
He failed to live up to the expectations on him. He departed without scoring his average runs per match. His dismissal allowed KXIP to take control of the game for some time. He was handy at times in the field and he made 13.5 points overall.
He was not at his best in the match, he struggled to contain KXIP batsmen. He also went wicketless which is quite unusual for a bowler of his stature. He made only 3 points in the match.
We were accurate with our predictions in the match, as we came quite close to predicting the actual dream team. We just missed on a couple of bowlers from the dream team, otherwise, our predictions were quite precise.
