It was close. It was intense. It was a nail biter. Call it what you may- the match between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals oscillated like a pendulum. There was a good start to the match and some impressive knocks from batsmen, but it was equally complimented by game-changing spells from bowlers.
At the end, the Delhi Capital’s counterattack was in vain due to many key moments which led to the victory of Kings XI Punjab.
The Delhi wicket-keeper and batsman was impressive in his stay at the crease, as always. He may not have taken the game close to a finish, but he proved his worth in the team with his all-around ability. He made 33 points in the match.
He was brilliant with his bowling, as he made early inroads in the Kings XI Punjab’s innings by dismissing KL Rahul and at the end, by dismissing Miller and Ashwin. He took the life out of the Kings XI innings, and made 34 points.
He replaced Chris Gayle in the match, yesterday. It was thought to be a big blow for Kings XI without the Universe boss, but Sam Curran over-delivered. He played an essential cameo by opening the innings, and with the ball, he was instrumental in the death overs to seal the victory for the hosts. He contributed 60.5 points.
In a sharp contrast to having been expensive throughout the season so far, the right arm pacer reversed this spell against Delhi. Shami bagged two wickets and was also economical, which in turn helped the Kings greatly as they only had a par score on the board.
Once again, the middle-order batsman came up with a blistering knock exactly at a time when the team needed it the most. His 43 runs played a critical role in taking the Kings close to 160. He made 27.5 points in the match.
As usual, he had a very decent outcome to his performance yesterday. He dismissed Sam Curran and Sarfaraz Khan at a time when they both tried to take the game away from Delhi. He made 22 points.
He failed to live up to his standards. He scored just 15 runs in the match. His dismissal made the situation difficult for other batsmen, but he was decent behind the stumps. He made 19.5 points in the match.
The opening batsman, who scored one short of a hundred in the previous match couldn’t last long in this match. He failed to read Ashwin’s variation of the very first ball in the Delhi innings and was dismissed immediately. He couldn’t contribute any points.
The Delhi captain couldn’t make an impact with his performance. He got off to a good start but failed to convert it to a long innings. He made 18.5 points in the match.
