Dream11 IPL Match 16 Post Match Review: Delhi Capitals (DC) Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
It was a low scoring affair in Delhi, as the hosts purposefully prepared a slow turner to counter the Sunrisers Top order but the tactic has backfired on their own batsmen.
Batting first on a dry and slow surface the Delhi batsmen couldn’t find their ideal timing as the slowness of the pitch and Sunrisers quality bowling got the better of them. None of the batsmen seemed in control except Shreyas Iyer, who scored 43 and Axar Patel who played a cameo at the end.
In the second innings when dew started to show its effect, Bairstow played an entertaining knock as he took the Delhi bowlers to cleaners. After the departure of Bairstow, Delhi slowly pulled the game back by picking wickets, but lack of runs and poor fielding efforts gave Sunrisers their third victory in the season.
FD Players Performances
Players who performed as expected
The Afghan all-rounder had continued from where he left off against Bangalore. He was effective in the powerplay, as always. He picked a couple of wickets and proved to be economical at the same time. He had set the stage beautifully for other bowlers with his early blows with the ball. He didn’t stop there with his contribution, as he also finished the game in a tricky situation in the chase. He made 41.5 points in the match.
The wicket-keeper batsman made the target look like nothing. He just blasted on the Delhi bowlers all around the park. His crisp knock at the top made things easy for Sunrisers as they were slightly wary at the end with the bat. He made 31.5 points.
He was the lone star for Delhi on Thursday night. He held his ground firm as wickets fell at regular intervals. His knock helped Delhi to post a respectable total on a tough pitch. He showed the way for Delhi in the middle but others just couldn’t pull it together for long. He contributed 30 points in the match.
The Stand-in Captain had led from the front with the ball, as he picked early wicket and made life difficult for the Delhi batsman. Later in the end overs too, he made things happening, as he dismissed dangerous Chirs Morris. He made 26 points in the match.
He may not have picked a wicket in the match, but he came up with a handy contribution at the end. His cameo helped Delhi to go past 120, otherwise, the total would have been less. He would have also picked wickets if the fielders had held the catches off his bowling.
Axar Patel who replaced Harshal Patel in the side, played a handy cameo at the end alongside Chris Morris. He later continued his good performance with the ball, as he was economical and picked an important wicket of Vijay Shankar. He made 28 points in the match.
Players who didn’t perform
The Delhi boy failed to convert his start into something big. He struggled for timing throughout his stay at the crease, his dismissal made Delhi change their plans. He made only 8.5 points.
He may not have played a big knock by his standards but his stay at the other end helped Bairstow to set the field on fire. But he failed to find his touch at the crease. He made only 5 points in the match.
The batsman’s aggressive approach had come up to his disadvantage on the slow turning surface. He couldn’t replicate his standards in the match, as he scored only 5 runs.
