Chennai Super Kings once again proved why experience counts in pressure situations. They have won another close contest on Sunday and virtually made their way into the playoffs in the mid-season itself. After Rajasthan in the previous match, it was Kolkata’s turn to lose the game from a good position against Chennai.
Returning to the match after missing the last game because of the flu, Lynn made the most use of the time at the crease with his fresh energy. He had given Kolkata a great start first up and then shifted gears to entertain the crowd. In the end, his knock may have gone in vain, but he was the top point scorer in the match.
He had given his team a good start in a tricky chase to set things right for Chennai from the word go. He was also brilliant in the field with his catches as he took some difficult ones and those made the situation smooth for Chennai on the front foot in restricting Kolkata to a par total. He made 32.5 points in the match.
He was adjudged as the best performer of the match for his impressive bowling performance. He was the man for Dhoni whenever the team wanted a wicket. His spell of 4/27 had taken the game away from Kolkata, as their batsmen could have made a difference in the result if they stayed for long. He made 46 points in the match.
He was not at his best so far in the season, but when it was needed most for the team he showcased his experience to take the team home with flying colors. He held one end tight with wickets falling at the other and showed a way for the team through pressure situations. He made 39.5 points in the match.
He didn’t get a quick fire start with the bat as he usually does, but he came up with an impressive spell later in the match to prove his worth. His 2/19 changed the complexion of the game in Chennai’s chase for some time. He made 29 points.
He had come up with a good show in this match after a mediocre performance. He made early inroads and also came back strong in the end to continue the good done in the middle by the spinners. He was also brilliant in the field and he made 30 points overall.
He failed to replicate his form on Sunday. He was touted to be the main man for Chennai in the middle order, as he plays spin well but he was undone early in his innings by Chawla’s flight in the air. He made only 1.5 points.
He continued his mediocre performance in this match as well. He was dismissed for a golden duck, as he took the aggressive approach against Tahir early in his innings. He could only make 4 points in the match.
He had a rare failure in the season. He could stay at the crease for only 4 balls and later he couldn’t bowl his full spell as he suffered an injury. But in his little stay at the crease, he was entertaining. He made 8.5 points.
