It was close and it would have gone either way if the umpire had spotted the no-ball, incidentally of the last ball in the match. Anyway, it was a welcome victory for Mumbai Indians, who has held their nerve in the final couple of overs to pull the game back into their court. It was a collective effort from Mumbai Indians in both halves of the innings as every member of the contributed his bit to the victory.

Royal Challengers Bangalore were pretty good as a bowling unit, but when it came to batting, it was once again all about the two big batsman.

AB de Villiers

Time and time again he comes up with characteristic knocks and shows why he is one of the best in the world. His lack of international exposure in recent times hasn’t fazed him a bit. He may not have taken his team home, but he was potent throughout. He made 49 points in the match.

Virat Kohli

He has shown why he is a veteran at Chinnaswamy stadium. He scored 46 runs in the match and added up to his tally. Although his knock did not push his team to victory, he has certainly lived up to his reputation to make it into the dream team of the match. He contributed 8 points. <check points once more>

Yuzvendra Chahal

He had lived up to his expectations, and he took 4 wickets in the match. He was instrumental in keeping the visitor’s score under 200. He was the bowling spearhead for Bangalore. He relieved the pressure of other bowlers by picking crucial wickets. He made 45 points in the match.

Quinton Dekock

He was good with the start at the top of the order as he complemented Rohit Sharma at the other end. He couldn’t convert his start into something big. He made 15.5 points in the match.

Mitchell McClenaghan

It was not his day with the ball as he conceded plenty in his 2 overs. He failed to make inroads with his variations and he couldn’t scalp Virat, who has struggled against him in the past.

Notable Performances

Jasprit Bumrah

The world’s best bowler had got few of the world’s best batsmen in the match. He picked up the wickets and most importantly did not conceded runs either.  He was the game changer in the match as he only went for 5 runs in his last two overs. He has made 33 points.

Rohit Sharma

After a mediocre show in his first match, the Mumbai batsman played a captain’s knock against Bangalore. He laid a solid foundation for the team at the top of the order. He made 37 points in the match.

Hardik Pandya

The Mumbai all rounder was not at his best with his bowling, but he showed how dangerous he can be with the bat in the slog overs. He had given a boost to the Mumbai innings in the last few overs as he made 32 off just 14 balls. He made 27 points in the match.
